SBQ - Waste Knot, Want Knot

How do you secure your thread when you begin a new one? Specifically,do you or have you ever used a waste knot?

I have never used a waste knot. I'd never even heard of it until this past year. In looking at the diagrams, it seems like a waste of thread to me. I use as much as possible without "waste"-ing any. LOL If I'm using an even number of strands, I use the loop method, otherwise I just catch the "tail" within a few stitches on the the backside. It's how I learned to do it. Never knots. Knots bad.

Hi Meari!

Catching up on my emails... and saw your post!

Let's see.... I pick the letter 'T' for you! (I went to one of my alphabet samplers... closed my eyes and pointed! T is where my finger rested!) Can't wait to see your list...

I use the loop method whenever possible, otherwise the same as you! The only time I use waste knots are with some specialty stitches placed away from the main design. :-)

Hugs...

I use the loop method as often as I can. I have used the waste knot, especially when I seem to keep pulling the thread through the fabric when starting. It's one of those depends on what kind of day I'm having. :D
