Mini Elephant Ears

It's county fair time, and what's one of the things you find at the fair? Huge as a paper plate, Elephant Ears!!

I have my own version in the miniature size...

MINI ELEPHANT EARS

White dinner roll dough (10 rolls)
Cooking oil
1/2 c. sugar
1 tbsp. ground cinnamon
3 tbsp. butter (melted)

Thaw dough at room temperature for 2 hours. Heat oil in electric skillet to 375°F. Combine sugar & cinnamon; set aside. Flatten each piece of dough into a very flat ear shape. Fry, a few at a time for approximately 1 minute per side until browned. Drain on paper towels. Brush each side with butter & sprinkle generously with cinnamon-sugar.

Enjoy!

Thanks for this recipe Meari! My daughter loves these. We just don't get them all the time-hard to find a fair all through the year. You asked where I bought my box from. I got it from Hobby Lobby-but I heard that you can get them from Michaels if you have one. Thanks for the commments.

Sounds and looks good. I didn't realize they were so easy to make. I'm going to try them sometime. Thanks for the recipe.

Now why did you have to go and post that recipe? Elephant ears are a close second to funnel cakes as my favorite fair food, and after reading/seeing this, now I want some of these mini ones.

*grumble*

Thanks for the recipe. I've never heard them called "elephant ears" before. Around here (upstate NY), it's just called "fried dough"!

Holy cow, Meari! Those look like they'd melt in your mouth! Too bad I was diagnosed with diabetes. I could have eaten the whole batch!

Ohhhhh....Meari - I made the elephant ears this morning as a "brunch snack" for the neighbors who gathered to watch the US Open (tennis match). Everyone now thinks that I'm a culinary genuius - I gave you proper credit - just wanted you to know that you're now famous in Florida!!!! Thanks! :)
