Dear Pontiac Owner

I get a lot of junk mail. Usually, I will go through it while I am at the post office and throw away everything I don't want, after tearing off any personal info (to be shredded later when I get home). For some reason, a few weeks ago, I didn't go through my junk mail and ended up bringing it home. As I was cleaning yesterday, found and opened what I thought was junk mail. It wasn't.

"Dear Pontiac Owner,

GM will be announcing a safety recall that may cause a FIRE in your Pontiac supercharged engine. We believe fires may be caused by oil being deposited on the exhaust manifold through hard breaking. If the manifold is hot enough and oil runs below the heatshield, it may ignite into a small flame and in some instances the fire may spread to the plastic spark plug wire channel.

We strongly recommend you not park your vehicle in a garage, car port, or other structure. If you notice a burning odor, you should have your Pontiac dealer inspect your vehicle."

OMG!! I've noticed a burning oil odor in my car for quite a while. It came and went and I just chalked it up to the car being old. *ACK* Don't park it in a garage or other building? LOL (not really funny) Nice to warn us about that one! I've been parking my car in my garage, which is full of unpacked boxes from when I moved. I guess I'd better make an appointment with the local GM dealership.

Hope you get this fixed ASAP!!! I've seen news reports of people losing their homes by these type of fires starting in the car parked in their garages. Be safe!
