For Cripes Sake!

This must be my week for complaining, LOL!

Someone posted on the Freecycle group that they needed moving boxes. I break all my boxes down flat and have been storing them against the wall in the basement. They are nice boxes! I offered my boxes to this person.

Her: Can I pick them up at 4:30 today?

Me: No, I don't get off work until 5pm. 5:30p would be fine, though. Let me know, and I'll give you directions.

Her: Any chance of my picking them up sometime tomorrow?

Me: 8:30am will work, or between 9:30-10:30am. I can't guarantee when I'll be home after that, as I have a busy day tomorrow. Sunday evening will work, too... after 5pm, if you can give me a specific time. Or, next week after 5:30pm. Let me know.

*** Now, I thought I offered up some very flexible and reasonable time schedules. ***

Her: Would it be possible for you to put them out on your curb, and I can just swing by tomorrow morning to pick them up? That way it's easier for the both of us.

*** I thought to myself: They're free! If she wants them, SHE can walk up and down my basement steps and haul them to her vehicle. I am NOT going to drag them to the curb. ***

Me: No. There are a lot of them and they are in my basement.

Geesh, I'm all for helping people out but where's the effort on her part??

Some people are just beyond ungrateful! You're right they're free!

It's been a rough week for you, hasn't it? Some people apparently like to look a gift horse in the mouth...

I think you are being very flexible with her. I don't blame you one bit. She should just be happy for the boxes. Especially if you have a lot. By the way my project is a rooster. I'm hoping to make it into a pillow for my sister in law. She has roosters in her kitchen and breakfast area.

LOL! You do make me laugh and that's a good thing. When I request something or respond, I try my best to pick up the very first available time they give me and then send a nice thank you as soon as I get home. I guess some people just feel like you're giving it away because it's in your way so you must do things when it's convenient for them or they just won't pick it up. Sorry folks, if you don't want it someone else does or the garbabe man will gladly (wellllll, maybe not! LOL) pick it up.

I think this lady's rudeness is the way of the world, these days. Sad, huh?

I also like to Freecycle whenever possible. Like you, I've had some folks with crazy notions like having me deliver these free things to them. I'm not sure what runs through people heads...they want it free, in brand new shape and delivered. Yeesh...some days it's easier to throw it out with the trash. But on the other hand, I have had interactions with some very nice people who have gone so far as to send me an ecard of thanks a few days later! That is what makes it all worth while!

Between the Ex's and now this, it has been some week. You were more than generous with your suggestions of times that work. Hope this coming week goes better for you.
