Just Another Saturday...

When I ventured out this morning, I thought I'd have a typical morning trip to the chiropracter and then a bit of shopping. Little did I know...

Today, I observed that entirely too many elderly (no offense to my blog readers) people are out shopping on Saturday mornings. I certainly looked out of place in a sea of white haired people (LOL). I'm surprised one of them didn't refer to me as "youngster".

As I was squatting in front of shelving in one of the store aisles in order to look at something, a little old lady HIT me with her cart! Did she *not* see me? I'm not that little. And there was no one else in the aisle!

And then...

I was at another store where a 5ft (I'm not exaggerating!) tall man approaches me and apologizes for being forward/personal... then after stuttering and stammering a bit, proceeds to ask me if I was familiar with [insert name here] online dating site! My mind did a fast rewind (it was just like you see in the movies) and it clicked he'd been at least 3 spots in the store I'd been! It was kinda creepy when I realized he'd been following me around the store.

I also thought it was odd that he remembered a lot that was in my profile. The city I listed (not my own, of course) and various other details I'd listed. He clearly was not my 'type' and way too old for me, so before he could even ask I told him I was dating someone. LOL Which I'm not, but he didn't need to know that. I do have to give him credit, though... I'm sure it had to take a lot of courage to approach me (a total stranger) like that.

Oh, my holy hell!!! I felt like I was reading my life today. I ventured out to Target to get a few things and realized, too late, that everyone else was also out shopping. Ugh!!!

I am not sure what my reaction would have been to have a guy approach me like that in the store. Fast thinking for you to tell him you were dating someone. Oh, dear God, what has the Internet gotten us into?

You are so correct! My mom and I went shopping this morning and EVERYONE was also shopping. Must be the "season"! Wow! I would have freaked out if some random guy came up to me! Sounds like you handled it wonderfully!

Weird having the stranger approach, but on the positive side, someone thinks you're also obviously attractive. That's always a boost for the ego!

I guess old people were so used to go shopping on saturday that they keep the habits once they retire ... they don't realize they will be soooooooo fine during week days (but they couldn't hit youngsters in empty aisle !!! lol )

Hi Meari:

Not everyone goes to the shops. If you live out in the country. I have not been in a shop in two weeks and I am very happy to be where I am at the moment.

What that person did to you was not right.

Love and hugs

I hope that you were not hurt by the cart. Some little old ladies are worse than children at pushing carts but then again, some carts do have minds of their own. Sounds like you handled what could have been a difficult situation with the guy very well. Quick thinking!

Amazing that the gray haired's only shop on Saturday there. Being this is a small town there are always loads of them any day of the week here. I prefer to go shopping at 6AM or earlier just to be able to browse without interuption.

Some guys sure have some brass ones these days. To approach anyone like that takes alot of nerve in this day.

I never shop on Saturday, but today I thought that I would just pick up a few things from the grocery. I'm going to have to go again! There were free samples EVERYWHERE. Wine, cheese, even turkey, mashed potatoes and gravy! Did I mention the cookies? Sweet.

What an interesting day you had Meari. That guy sounds like a little weird - good thing you told him you were dating someone.

I try really hard not to shop on Saturdays. Too many people out period! I also never shop the day after Thanksgiving or Christmas!

Quick thinking with the dating guy!

I also found the store was quite busy today. Had to pick up medication at the grocery pharmacy & picked up a few groceries while there. The worse part was trying to find a parking space. UGH! Where on earth do these weirdo men come from? You managed that situation quite well. You go girl!

so funny.. I have been meaning to tell you - I have some good "submissions" if you need anymore internet dating horror stories.. I went on quite a few dates before I met my hubby (on the internet).. some would blow your mind.. and some still make me chuckle..

I hate shopping...I especially hate malls...I don't mind "single" stores, don't get me wrong, I do a lot of shopping, but....malls totally annoy me -- and so I avoid them! LOL! I recally one Christmas season, several years ago, everyone was in my way and I was so irritated...I actually started swinging my shopping bag in front of me while I was walking, warning loudly "Get the heck out of my way"! This is why I avoid malls...I turn into the Shopper From Hell!!

I only had to be out briefly this weekend, but it did seem to be quite a bit busier than ususal. Maybe the holiday shopping is starting. Sounds like you handled yourself quite well with that guy, quick thinking. I'd have been so creeped out to have someone come up to me like that.

Ok, that guy is just weird to follow you around. The day for old shopping around here is Wednesday's. That's when they get a discount. I think the stores try to keep them away on the weekends. I stay away from weekend shopping to if I can.

That man seems to me quite weird. Thank god he seemed to be ok and not a weirdo. But anyway, that story gave me the shivers.

And I avoid shopping during weekend or in any rush hour if possible. I hate it too.

I would have been a bit freaked out by someone randomly approaching me in public and knowing all those things.

I always found the elderly shopped at lunchtime and caused long queues. They had all day to shop and I had an hour. I have a lot of respect for the elderly - oh yikes I've retired so now I'm an 'elderly' - but please don't shop during the lunch hour!

At least that guy approached you in a busy store, I found a note on my car in an underground carpark asking me to call him. That really freaked me out!

That is a little freaky about that guy.
