Marvelous Monday Update 3/30/09

First It Was Lost.... Then It Was Lost Again...
About two weeks before my last class ended, I lost my USB memory stick that contained notes and information for practically every class I'd ever taken. Luckily, only the "diary" portion of my class project was on there (because it's all we had done at that point). I even told a coworker that I'd lost it.

Last Tuesday, a man came into the office asking for me. Apparently, he had found my memory stick in the parking lot. He put it in his coat pocket and then it fell out and behind the seat in his work truck, LOL. So it was lost again! He found it, took it home, looked at my Excel files (every file is created with a user name embedded in properties), found out who's stick it was, GOOGLED me, found out where I worked, and dropped it off! While it was great he returned it, it's kinda scary how quickly one can be found. And I tell ya what... I would've totally freaked if he showed up at my house! So, Charlie Brown... There are nice people out there. LOL

Weather
March came in like a lamb and is going out like a lion! Saturday afternoon was met with 2" diameter snowflakes! Following was sleet and rain. So when I woke up yesterday morning, there was about 2" of crunchy snow/ice mix on my driveway and yard. Hopefully, this will be the last winter storm warning of the season!

Stitchy Stuff
Several weeks ago, Kelly from WI offered a bunch of magazines. I offered to give her something to at least pay for postage since I knew it would cost a small fortune. She suggested a couple of wishlist charts, so that's what I ordered for her. Here's what came to me in the mail last week:

7 Issues of Britain's Cross Stitcher

7 Issues of Stoney Creek

I had so much fun looking through them and picking projects to add to my "To-Do" list, LOL! Thanks again, Kelly!

America's Hottest Husband
There's been a bit of excitement in my neck of the woods. One of the top 25 finalists for Redbook's America's Hottest Husband contest hails from one of my childhood hometowns! Pearl City, Illinois ... population 600. His name is David Tessendorf. He was interviewed on this morning's news show and I got the biggest kick out of him. Coincidentally, he's related to my hairdresser! I'm asking you to vote for him. Voting ends tomorrow. The link is HERE. Thanks!

How lucky that someone 'nice' found your memory stick. What a great set of magazines, hopefully you will soon be able to enjoy an iced tea outside whilst you have a good look through them all! Lets keep fingers crossed. Have a great week.

Glad you found your memory stick, would have been terrible to loose all that info.

Great bunch of magazines, I'm not real fond of the UK ones but bet you find lots to do in the Stoney Creek ones.

Meari, I can always rely on you to give me such an informative an interesting read. I look forward to Mondays when I know that I will be able to find out what has happened in your week. Thank you so much I have easy access to English Cross stitching magazines but am dead envious of those Stoney Creek ones. LOL Actually whilst I am prattling I must tell you about my eldest son who visited Ohio early this year to see his fiance and I said just bring me home a cross stitch magazine and I will be happy. He did and it was an English one. When I did mention where it was produced he said oh but I bought it in an American newsagency. My fault I should have been more specific.

Angels are still out there, I'm glad that you have your stick back. From now on I'm putting a little label with my name and phone number on all my sticks - just in case...

And it looks like not only I have winter... it was snowing here (in the Yukon) yesterday and it is snowing this morning. I bet that I will have to keep my winter tires for another month.

I voted for David, good luck to him.

Great that you got your USB stick back and great to hear that there are still people out there who care and take the effort to do something good. It would have been so easy to keep it...or throw away.
And isn't it sad that we all freak out these days about that or if we can get found easy...and are right to do so. But it's sad isn't it? It should be a normal.
Great magazines :)

Lucky that someone found your property but yeah, scary how easily he got all that info on you!! just shows really how easy identity theft is.

Looks like you have plenty of reading and stitching projects to keep you going for a while!

Happy Monday! That's awesome that you were able to get your USB Drive back and that there are some good samaritians out there. I received the envelope with the charts a few days ago! Thanks so much! So crazy on my end I haven't even had time to open or post. Have a good week! =)

Phew Meari - you were so lucky. Leading up to my exam I was 'Paranoid' that I would lose my 'golden' book which had ALL my vital notes in it. But yes, a bit scary that you could be found that easily. We have engraved our mobile number on our kids USB's so that if they lose them it is me or John that will get the call.

Good to see we still have nice people around. Love the stash of magazines, too! Our weather has been what we call the pits around here. So much rain, which I hate, btw. I know we need it, but after the next few days, we'll have no more deficit. I'm ready for 70's, 80's, and so forth!
