Marvelous Monday Update 6/15/09

Wow... Here it is.... the middle of June already! Where does the time go?

BIRTHDAY SHOPPING
On Friday, I took my 17yr old niece birthday shopping. Her birthday was actually in April, but we just couldn't get it together then. I had a list of things I needed to get on Friday, so I told her I'd take her anywhere she wanted as long as I could stop get the things I needed. We started out at the mall, of course. I was impressed with her shopping skills. She's quite the careful shopper! We had a good afternoon together shopping and having "girl talk"... both of which was nice.

STITCHY STUFF
Last week, I started a new mail art piece for an exchange. I'm not very far on it, and can't show pics until it arrives to its destination. Not much fun without pics, eh?

DATING
JT took me to Capri Restaurant & Pizza on Friday night. They make most awesome Italian food, ever! I've been there a couple times and never had a bad meal. Neither of us could eat all of our entrees, so guess what we had for lunch the next day?

On Saturday, we spent the afternoon at a local village festival. The firemen put on a pork chop dinner that is so scrumptious. (Hmm... I see a food theme, lol)

JT came over on Sunday morning... Mowed my grass, removed the overgrown vines from the side of my garage (I can actually see out the windows now!), and trimmed my tree. He tries to make my life easier :) What a sweetheart, eh? Meanwhile, I finished creating my planters with the annuals I bought a couple weeks ago.

My niece who graduated two weeks ago had her graduation party on Sunday afternoon. More food! My Mom made pulled BBQ Pork and eggrolls! Yum-Yum-Yummy!!! JT was brave enough to accompany me and meet the rest of the family. I could tell my Mom liked him (a lot) right away. My sister didn't say a word to him, but my BIL did ask him "How's it goin?" LOL After the party, JT and I went to my parents house and visited for a while. (My Mom bribed me by telling me she had more eggrolls at home! Who can resist that?!?) My Mom was quite animated and chatty with JT. My Dad talked some (me thinks he was tired) and laughed at some of JT's jokes.

So let's see... the parents like him, coworkers like him, BFF LOVES him, online friends like him, but sister doesn't. My mother actually said to me outloud in front of JT: "He's a keeper! You need to hold on to him with both hands." Way to be subtle, Mom! (Moms... whaddya do?!) One of my coworkers has echoed the same sentiment, just not in front of him. LOL

Hey Meari -

Sounds like things are going great and I am so happy for you. Bet your sister is just jealous--too bad for her.

Take it easy and enjoy every minute--you deserve a great guy and I am so happy you have found one.

Sounds like you had a great weekend! Sisters can take longer to warm up to a guy. Give her some time and hopefully she'll come around!

Boy you had a full weekend. Shopping, dinner and a party. So glad he is liked by most of the people in your life. Your sister sounds angry. Not saying a word to him was just plain rude. That sounds more like anger than just dislike. Your sister may miss the excitment that a new relationship brings.

Hey, if Mom says go for it! I would take her advice over sis anyday. After all Mother knows best. :)

Sounds like a busy weekend, shopping, stitching, dating and family.
He does yard work too, amazing. Your sister not liking him is good. If everyone loved him I would be worried he was too perfect. She will come around at some point.
LOL about your Mom - it's what we do, just ask my son.

Meari,

Yep he's a keeper! Moms are not known for their ability to be subtle but at least she liked him. As for your sister, hopefully she comes around and in the meantime, she is definitely out voted by everyone else. Enjoy it...I love hearing you sound so happy!

Sounds like you've been having a great time together. yeah!!!!!!!! Even your Mom thinks he's a keeper so he can't be all that bad now can he?? ;) I think your sister is just shamed of the way she behaved and doesn't know how to fix things. I'm sure she'll figure it out later on. LOL

Glad you've had a great time with the family and that you're feeling a lot better!!

TRUST ME :) If your sister HATES him... HE IS THE ONE!!

For some strange reason - although sisters want you to be happy... they get really jealous and narky when you actually find THE ONE :)

My sister still has not gotten over it and I have almost been married 4 years!

I agree with your mom!

Your sister did not speak to him? How rude is that? May be she doesn't like changes, or she is simply jealous of you finding such a nice guy. Or it is that weird competition thingy that some sisters do have...often enough exercised by only one of the sisters. But whatever it is, there is no reason to be rude. Besides, you're a grown up woman and perfectly able to make your own choices! If I was you I would be upset with her.
Your mum however seems to be such a darling. :) I love her subtlety...lol. Love that. really.

Your sister sounds like she's jealous of you He's a hit with the rest of your family, friends, coworkers & all of us online - so who cares what your sister thinks. LOL Keep enjoying life - you deserve it!

I am so happy for you. Watch out for all the food it will get to you. Well it has me anyway. LOL! Do you still workout?

Your sister is definitely jealous, no doubt about it. If she wants to continue to be nasty, let her stew in the corner until she is ready to play nice with the rest of the family :)

It is so weird about our new guys. Mine says the exact same thing "I want to make your life easier". Too funny!

ack! I keep forgetting to ask you if you can point me to a site with a free mail art design or two? i would like to try one for my mom in the future. I don't really mind paying, either...just want some choices to look at.

thanks!!

I love weekends that involve lots of eating and especially when I haven't cooked it! I love pulled pork and egg rolls!!!! I've never had homemade ones, I bet they are to DIE for!!!! Having a man do yard work is heaven on earth.....he's really spoiling you, which is perfect. I'd tell your sister **ck off!!! Sorry, but I would! Maybe I'll be the last to post a comment and won't offend anyone! LOL
