Marvelous Monday Update 11/23/09

STITCHY STUFF
I've gotten a couple of exchanges out of the way.

For Tiny Treasures Exchange Too, I participated in the Humbug Exchange. It's the first time I've ever done one, so hopefully my partner liked it.

I also got the CSE Advent Exchange wrapped, boxed up, and mailed out.

Lastly, I did get some stitching done this week. No pics, though, since it's for a private ornament exchange. Don't want to ruin the surprise
;-)

CAR
The adjuster came. The adjuster looked. The ajuster went. The damage? $2500+! Yikes. No one has opened the hood yet, so not really sure what damage was done on the inside. Didn't want to take the chance of not being able to get it shut again! The insurance company has assured me they'll cover the cost if there's more damage.

I had two people recommend an auto body shop out of town, so that's where my ride went. The owner/manager of the shop commented that my adjuster was a good one, so it set my mind at ease. He also informed me that GM has a price match for GM parts (instead of using after market parts). Just a little FYI if any of you have GM vehicles. :)

Unbeknownst to me prior to the accident, I have rental car coverage on my policy! What a lifesaver that's turned out to be. Now I don't have to worry about coming up with a car for five days. :) The car rental place gave me a '09 Chevy HHR. It's taken me a bit getting used to it - can't say that I'd ever buy one of these. (Even though my car is old-old-older, I'm spoiled with it, and still *love* it after all these years.)

Side Note:
Tongue in cheek... Hitting the deer *really* isn't turning out so bad. ;-) I had a couple of "paint rubs" on the driver's front side from when I lived in my apartment. The garage door was -barely- large enough to pull my car in and out (approximately 3" on each side) and well, you know. My car scraped against it sometimes. That's the story I'm sticking to! With the deer repairs, by default those will be taken care of, too.

GIVEAWAY
Angela of Hooked on Stitches is sponsoring a nice giveaway on her blog. Check it out if you're interested.

It's good they could fix your car and have GM parts. A deer hit me when my car was 4 months old, and the POS adjuster attempted to get them to use "seconds" on it. I told him it was a brand-new car, and he could put brand-new, 1st quality parts on it. I was hot. I felt bad enough about the deer, and then to have screwed up parts on it, ugggh.

it's not turning out too bad now that your insurance will cover it and you get a rental. (Not to mention you get some old repairs taken care of too) Glad things are turning out better with all that. Sending big hugs your way!

I'm glad that your car will be fixed soon!!! Nice job getting the exchanges ready. I am not doing any exchanges this year...I'm sure I'll miss the excitmeent of getting the gifts, but I have to cut costs somewhere LOL

I like the way the HHRs look, but have never rode in one. I'm getting used to the new 6speed...if only my bone spur wasn't acting up...Going to the dr on the 30th for a shot :(

Crazy all that fine print in a policy. Glad it turns out some of it was good fine print. Isn't it funny how cars can be so different? They all have four wheels, a steering wheel, seats, windsheilds, etc. but can all feel so totally different. Hopefully you will have your ride back soon. A point of clarification on my blog.....the turned pages are the pages of my new catalog that I turned down on the pages of things I liked! I elaborated on the comment. Happy Thanksgiving

Glad to hear you will have a car while your baby gets repaired! What a nice little extra to have the "rub" removed at the same time!

Glad you're car is being fixed. I know it's like an old friend and you miss it when it's gone. Hopefully it'll be out of surgery soon and there won't be any follow-ups.

Glad to hear you got rental included on your insurance - when I had a no-fault claim it was included, as you say, it's alife-saver!

glad to know you got all set up.. and I would def say that the couple extra dollars the rental coverage costs on your insurance is WELL worth it when you consider what you would pay out of pocket.. hope you have a great turkey day.. big hugs to you!!

I *love* both of those papers you've wrapped up the exchanges in!! I'd squeal so loud all the neighbors would rush over if I received such a thing in my mailbox. :D

2500 sounds like a lot of money. Well at least you have insurance. And I have to agree with you on the rental car insurance. It came in handy for us as well one time.

Well we know that Mare love her exchange you sent. Good luck with the other one.

Playing catch up as usual. We had an HHR as a rental on vacation. We didn't like it. I don't know how they sold so many! Your car will look brand new when you get it back. Hope you have a great Turkey Day.
