Can You See?

I can!! I haven't stitched much in the past few weeks because my stitching swing arm lamp I had wouldn't stay clamped to my end table. After a few frustrating attempts, I decided to look for something else to help me stitch. I found a Grandwich Full Spectrum Floor lamp on sale at Shopko for $40. Included in the box was a table lamp also. Both are solidly built. Priced separately, each lamp ranges from $25 to $40 each. I was pleasantly surprised at what I got for $40. They're not quite as bright as the 100watt GE Reveal bulbs I was using, but I think they will do nicely. I saw a review that compared it to the Ott Lite, but obviously not as expensive.

When it rains....

... it pours... no, it turns to ICE! I woke up this morning to 1/2" of ice coating my driveway. Ack! The entire midwest is getting hit by a heavy ice storm, and I'm just on the edge of it. I received an automated phone call this morning from the college that the campus was closed. Now if only work would call and say we're closed... LOL (no such luck there). Turned on the TV and it seems Father Winter has decided to bless all of us in the country's midsection with the icy stuff. Temps here are hovering around 32-33F just enough to keep it raining, but by noon it's supposed to get colder... and the fun will really begin!

Update on Dad

After being bored in the hospital for several days, he was released. He has a similar problem to what Vice President Cheney has and is going to have the same treatment, in that they are going to shock his heart to try and restore a regular heartbeat. It's an hour and half procedure that is apparently pretty common. I'm taking him to have this done on Thursday.

So It Starts....

... or in my case, it does NOT start. I went out at 7:30 this morning to sprinkle a bit of ice melt on the driveway and put things in my car that I needed to take to work. The radar detector was making an odd sound. I thought: "What in the world?" I got in to start the car, and guess what? It didn't start! The battery was dead. For the life of me I can't figure out why the battery doesn't hold a charge when the weather gets cold unless I start the car every single day. Ah... now I feel winter is truly here... Snow, ice, car not starting... Oh yeah, bring it on!

So as I write this, the battery charger is doing it's thing and I will be late for work.

Another Date Night

I was surprised and flattered that T wanted together after a year of not seeing each other, or keeping in contact. We'd gone out on a couple of dates earlier in the year and they went fine. On those dates, he was very nice, and very polite. Since the weather was supposed to be bad, we decided to have a bottle of wine while watching a movie at my house. (He brought the wine and paid for the movie.) We had a hard time picking out a movie at Blockbuster, but finally decided on Fracture with Anthony Hopkins. Good flick. After the movie, T and I got to talking... and talking... and talking. Next thing we know, it's 1am! He had a long drive home, so he gave me a hug and we called it night. Early this morning, I received a text message from him telling me what a great time he had. :)
