Marvelous Monday Update - Part Deux

"Lady, you look like sex on a stick in that Frederick Montana getup!"

Oh wait... This isn't Sweet Home Alabama... and I'm not Melanie Carmichael.

Kinda felt that way when I was walking out of the grocery store and a guy gave me that salcious whistle... You know... the he-man... construction worker type of whistle...

Nice to know I still have "it"! Nevermind that I was half-disheveled after a long day at work, had on the ugliest 10+ year old clunky winter boots, and was carrying a carton of eggs. A random guy found me attractive enough to whistle! Thank goodness it was dark, I may not have wanted to see what he looked like.

Yeah, I take my little thrills where I can get them. LOL

Later after I arrived home, I spent a few hours elbow-deep in frosting in order to get my cookies decorated. Mid-decoration, I had to make a run to JoAnn Fabrics in order to get "Christmas Red" Wilton food coloring paste as the pastel "Rose Red" just wasn't cutting the mustard for decorating the stockings!

Marvelous Monday Update 12/22/08

School
Grades were supposed to be posted last Tuesday. Chomp, chomp, chomping at the bit... I was logging into the college's website all morning. Not being able to stand it anymore, I called the school to ask *when* they were going to be posted. LOL One-thrity PM rolls around and grades STILL aren't posted. So I went to lunch (Hey, a girl's gotta eat!). When I got back, I hurriedly logged in for the 50th time of the day. Good thing there's not a limit on the number of times a student can log into their account!

All I want for Christmas is... my two front teeth... no wait, wrong song. I just wanted a "B". That's all... just a "B" and I'd be happy! What did I get????

I AM HAPPY!!! With the conclusion of this class, I will be receiving my degree in Accounting. Woo Hoo!!

Weather
*sigh* Last Tuesday, my area received another 4.5". Lucky us -- We had a day's reprieve before the really fun stuff started. Thursday night, we received 9"! Then on Saturday night, we got another 2-3". That makes 43" of snow so far in the month of December and technically it wasn't even winter until Sunday! There was a lot of blowing and drifting snow on Sunday with a high of -3F and windchill temps of 27 below zero. I had to go out twice on Sunday to blow and shovel the drifted snow from my driveway. Brrr!

Work
I had two photo shoots scheduled again for Thursday and Friday last week. With the weather forecast calling for snow and ice on Friday, I had the marketing department reschedule everyone to Thursday only. That meant I had to photograph 40+ employees! Here's a few I did on Thursday:

I did manage to figure out how to color correct some of the ones I took last week that either had a blue cast, or were too dark. Thanks to everyone for their suggestions.

Holiday Decorating
I decided not to put up my big tree this year. Instead, I put up two little trees. One is in my dining room, the other is in the living room. Both are decorated with stitched ornaments.

Since it was too cold and nasty to go anywhere, I did my holiday baking. All said and done, I baked over 10 dozen cookies in 4 varieties.

Stitchy Stuff
I was the lucky winner of a giveaway on the Stitching Bloggers group! I remembered signing up, but I couldn't remember what I won. LOOK!!!

10 skeins Victoria Clayton silk floss!

Thank you Sharon!

Stalked Via Cell Phone

One would think that after at least 4 years of never answering calls and not texting back, an ex-BF would get the hint. Does he? NO! After four years of trying to get me to talk to him... never coming to fruitation... does it sound of "desperation"? (Pathetic? Psycho? Stalker? Take your pick.) What's really disturbing is that he gets frustrated when I don't answer and his "tone" gets agressive as he goes on and on about how he's not a bad guy and why won't I talk to him? The latest....

3:25PM --- I'm at work. Cell phone rings. I see it's him and press "Ignore".

3:27PM --- Phone buzzes to let me know there's a voice message. I ignore it because I know it's his.

3:28PM --- Phone rings again. It's him. "Ignore" again.

3:29PM --- Text from ex-BF #2 (from a year ago) asking whether my snowblower paid for itself. (LOL, what?)

3:30PM --- Phone buzzes. I have a 2nd voicemail message.

OK, curiosity kills the cat, so I listen to the VM messages.

Message #1 --- On and on about why I won't talk to him, he's not a bad guy. Oh, and he did call for a reason. He wanted to know what {insert some unintelligible word} means.

Me: Delete

Message #2 --- "Really" says he. "What is infidel? I want to know. And I don't know why you won't talk to me!"

He seems to forget that I WORK for a living during the daytime hours. He forgot that a LOT when we dated, too. Now "infidel" sounded nothing like the word he was trying to say in Message #1. Apparently, he was watching TV and they used the word. So who better to call than his very smart ex-GF of four years ago! Geesh.

Me: Delete

If it weren't such a PITA for me to change my number, I would. It's unfortunate cell phones don't have the number blocking function. My service doesn't, anyway.

A day in the life..... *sigh*

Marvelous Monday Update 12/15/08

Weather
Last week started off with a nice (Not!) bout of freezing rain. I woke up to at least 1/4" of ice on my steps and driveway. Thank goodness I had foresight to put salt down twice during the night, otherwise I would've never been able to get out and go to work. Wait... Would that be so bad? LOL

Follow that with a chaser of 20MPH winds and another 3" of snow! The roads were trecherous and messy. I left work an hour early so I wouldn't have to be blowing snow in the dark. I finished up in the d-a-r-k! I am so ready for winter to be OVER! Winter isn't even officially here yet, and I'm ready for the BIG THAW.

By Sunday, temps were in the upper 40's and we had lots of rain. What?? Hard to believe that most of the snow we had has melted. Never fear though, by Sunday night we had a flash freeze on the rain and everything turned to ice.

Today I woke up to a dusting of snow, temp of 4F, and gusty winds! Windchill temps of 18F below zero! Brrr!! Later today is supposed to be a high of 12. Oooooh, HEAT WAVE!

School
I'm free! I'm free! I received my term paper back and got an "A" on it. I'm surprised since it was supposed to be 8 pages long and mine was only 5. I was glad to see the instructor graded on content vs. length. I took my final last Wed and think I did OK. I'll find out what my final grade is tomorrow.

Classes start up again in January, so I'll have a month of "vacation". Woo Hoo!

Work
Every year a Christmas Ornament Luncheon is organized for the ladies who want to participate. We all donate $10 for the food and prizes, and we have to bring a gift wrapped $10 ornament to exchange. The food is always scrumptious and the games and exchange is a lot of fun! This year, our gift bag contained a playing card which determined how we chose an ornament. The organizer chose a card and if ours matched, we could go to the table and choose one. Here's what mine looked like before I opened it:

Each box contained an ornament!

All are so pretty and sparkly!

This was my gift "prize" for attending the luncheon. It's small and really cute.

Last week and this week, my firm asked me to do headshots of all the employees under management level. However, as it ended up... Some of the partners had me do their photographs! Talk about nerve racking!! This week, I'll be finishing them up. Here's a few of the ones I did:

I'm stressing out a little bit about how the lighting isn't consistent, and I don't really know why as I didn't change any of the set up and the light meter readings were the same when I checked it.

Stitchy Stuff
Remember a while back, I stitched Peace Love Cure by Lizzie Kate and then made a flatfold for a Freecycle friend who is a breast cancer survivor?

She emailed me the other day asking for my address to send me a Christmas card. In the same email, she told me she has a pink BC Christmas tree, and how she put PLC underneath it. D said she'd take pics and send them to me, if I'd like. Of course, I said YES!

D also told me that she wants to get together after the holidays for coffee and stitching!

I haven't posted a freebie in a while, so here's a cute one that was shared on the SNS2 group:

If you haven't already done so, please surf on over to Lisa's blog for some fantastic giveaways! She's a great lady and does some beautiful stitching. :)
