YUM-YUMS
Do you like the pretzels from the mall or fairs/festivals? The BF and I made these from scratch yesterday:
SCHOOL
It's the last week of the semester. Yay!!! This class certainly has kept me busy. This week I have four chapters of textbook reading plus homework for each, two postings and reponses to other student postings, and of course the FINAL exam. Last week students were able to rate courses and leave commentary. Overall, I thought the instructor was pretty good, but I did leave comments regarding the overwhelming amount of homework, and the fact that he expected us to turn it all in on time (or get a grade of ZERO) yet his timeliness of grading homework was sorely lacking. We'd get our grades anywhere from two to four weeks after we had to turn them in.
GIVEAWAY

STITCHY STUFF
There's been some questions regarding the flowers and confetti stitches I'm doing on Blossom Splendor, so I thought I'd show a close-up pic:
So far, I've done close to 100 of those pesky confetti stitches.
I was able to finish another page! I only have the bottom portion of her kimono left to stitch.
I've started some of the backstitched details using Krienik #4 Very Fine braid. It sure does make those areas sparkly.
Until next time,
Blossom Splendor is beautiful!!!
ReplyDeleteI read your methods on confetti stitches. What would you do if you were using metallic silver thread (sorta like the Kreink very fine braid)?
ooo well done on making the comments re his grading .. love your blossoms .. its coming along beautifully :) love mouse xxxx
ReplyDeleteMe encanta como llevas esta japonesita. Adelante que ya la terminas!!!
ReplyDeleteISa
Gosh those pretzels look yummy.
ReplyDeleteBlossom Splendor looks good too.
Could you post a picture of the back side of your confetti stitches? I avoid confetti stitches at all costs because I can't figure out how to make the backs look nice! Your's is beautiful and I bet your back is just as nice -- would love to see how you do it!
ReplyDeleteCongrats on the WoNDERFUL progress on BS!!! I have a question though. On the close-up of the confettie areas, how come my camera always blurs on close-ups? Guess you wouldn't know that because it's mine, LOL! I think the manual is just a memory, but there's probably a setting for unblurred close-ups. Thinking out loud - maybe I can find a manual or help online. I know I'll never find the manual.
ReplyDeleteI love the photo of her face!
Those pretels sure look yummy Meari! I bet you can't wait to finish your semester and I don't blame you for making that comment to the tutor. Blossom Splendour looks amazing! I have the same problems as Nancy in IL with blurry close ups so look forward to seeing what you have to say in reply!
ReplyDeleteHow did the pretzels taste? Just looking at them makes my mouth water. They are beautiful. You excel at everything you try.
ReplyDeleteTina
those pretzels look wonderful!!! You did a great job!! We used to make them with the kids when they were younger...
ReplyDeleteYour stitched piece is looking great....do you feel the end in sight?????? Sure looks like you are getting there!!
Those pretzels look yummy!! Yep, gotta hate those confetti stitches!
ReplyDeleteMeari,
ReplyDeleteThose pretzels look delicious. I love them. What recipe did you use?
Look at all those confetti stitches. I do not envy you.
I love it when you get to add all the specialty threads and beads to a project. It makes the whole design stand out even more.
You have come along way. I can't believe your almost done. I wish I was as dedicated as you are.
Kudos to you for letting your teacher know how you felt.
Have a great week!
Those pretzels look yummy! Blossom Splendor is beautiful.
ReplyDeleteYou have done a splendid job on her. I look forward to seeing
her finished.

What girl doesn't like spars! Blossom is spectacular!
ReplyDeleteyumo!! We use to make pretzels, haven't did that for a long time.
ReplyDeleteSo the next time we bake cookies it will be pretzel cookies, lol
BS is looking so pretty.
This is turning out beautifully! The close ups show how detailed it really is. My question: do you do each confetti stitch separately or string several together? Too many single stitches, but sure does make the background lovely. As always I am in awe.

Metallics on or in anything is what Martha Stewart use to say - "A good thing"
ReplyDeleteShe's stunning!
I think I can smell the pretzels right through the computer! Your Blossom Splendor is beautiful!
ReplyDeleteBlossom splendor is beautiful!!! good luck on finishing up your class!
ReplyDeleteBlossom Splendor is really coming along great! It's so beautiful. The pretzels do look yummy. Good luck with your final!!!
ReplyDeleteLooking at the photo you still have a bigger portion of the kimono to do than I thought! Pretzels look yummy, I have a recipe to add spices to pretzels and they are hard to stop eating!
ReplyDeleteI wish I could have commented on my college professors, lol! It would definitely had to have been anonimous.
ReplyDeleteBlossom Splendor is beautiful. Pesky little confetti stitches...
Yum Yum is right. Are those pretzels hard to make? Send me the recipe please :)
Stitching looks great! I hate confetti stitches! I want a pretzel!
ReplyDeleteOoh--those pretzels look great, Meari! I tried making them once, but they didn't turn out--not sure what the problem was.
ReplyDeleteGreat news that you are down to the final week and then on to your final course after that--you go girl!!!
Do you think you'll have Blossom Splendor done by the end of the year? It really is an amazing piece :)
Best of luck on your final!!
Blossom is looking so beautiful!! I think it is great that the school gives the students chances to speak up about their class and evaluate their teachers. My husband gets that every class as well. He too can easily make the same comments that you have. Have a great week!
ReplyDeleteYays for finishing those yucky confetti stitches. Thanx for the close up pics. I knew she was pretty but I didn't realize just how pretty she really is.
ReplyDeleteWhat yummy looking pretzels Meari.
ReplyDeleteYour blossom stitching is awesome the braid gives a lovely finish.
Those pretzels look fab, we dont get those at fairs or stalls here in the UK (that I have found anyway) but i have been tempted to try and find a recipe to give them a go.
ReplyDeleteBlossom splendor is stunning.
Good luck with your final exam

My nephew and I tried to make pretzels and they did not turn out anywhere close to as good as yours! Hope they tasted as good as they look.
ReplyDeleteYour stitching is beautiful! I always love looking at your stitching.
