Marvelous Monday Update 2/3/14

With recent weather conditions, I need more than a tortilla!  Everyone in the midwest is asking, "Will this ever end?!?"  According to the news, so far this is the 8th worst winter weather on record.  My area has received over 35" of snow since December 1st.  That's about 12" above average.  While it's a good workout and aids in my getting the 10,000 steps in per day, I'm also tired of the snow, ice, and cold.

BELATED BIRTHDAY
A few more cards (and floss) arrived in the mail last week.

I've really enjoyed the variety of birthday wishes that came this year.
Here's my wall of cards:

GIFT
Long time readers may remember the shelf remake I did last year.  (If not, you can see it HERE.)  Deb sent me a lovely teacup and matching saucer for my collection.  Her note said it was her favorite pattern when she was younger.  I think it's absolutely beautiful!  Thank you, Deb.

STITCHY STUFF
:::happy dance:::  I have my first finish of 2014.  I put the final touches on Thinking Positive.  The photos really don't do the opalescent fabric justice.

Designer:  Jardin Prive / Nathalie Cichon
32ct Opalescent Luguna - Heritage by Enchanting Lair
Fibers: DMC, Weeks Dye Works

Edited 2/9/14:  I've had quite a few requests asking which WDW threads I used for the lettering.  The purple varigated is 2296 Sweet Pea.  The magenta varigated 4115 Mothers Day.

I also did a bit more stitching on Japanese Garden:

Until next time,

  9. Hi sweetie! Happy Monday, even though it is coldddddddd....brrrr

It has warmed up here for at least this week; and we are having heavy rain today. Better than the snow.

Your Jardin Prive turned out beautiful! I saw the fabric up close and personal...lol....and it is gorgeous. Congrats on your first finish of the year.

JG I saw in person also; this is a most stunning piece of work! I know you don't have too much left to do, right? That is, if my memory is correct.

You have a great week and watch your mail toward the end of the week for your card/floss with a small package :)

    Hugs,
    Sue your SM

  13. Thanks, Meari, for the picture of the teacup. I really wanted to open up the wrappings and take a peak but was afraid I'd mess up the safety for shipping. Sure happy you like it.

  15. Great looking finish, Meari!! And I hear you about this endless winter. We've received 20 inches more than normal for January alone! Luckily, ours has come in little by little and we've managed to escape any huge amounts at one time. To top it all off that horrid groundhog saw his shadow... At this rate we'll still be shoveling in April!

  27. Meari,

I looked at your most recent finish, which I totally loved, then found the Jardin Prive website to find that this sampler was a free download (!!). What threads did you use on your "Happy Life?"

Thank you for sharing and your blog.

  32. I am like you and wish the snow and cold weather woul end soon, but we are expecting more snow tonight.

Your Positive Thinking looks very nice, finished with page 2 and will try and pick it up again soon.

  33. Congrats on the beautiful finish! I love the fabric and floss colors.

I agree, the snow removal is a workout, but I'm getting really fed up with having to do it so much! My area is in the 6-12 inch snowfall range tonight and tomorrow. Supposedly we're going to get even more than that this weekend. My shovel is wearing out, lol!

  34. It sure has been a heck of a winter. Ohio has been one of many states that has been hit hard by the weather conditions. Been spending as much time as possible at home and hiding under the covers where it is warm! Beautiful finish!! Have a good week!

  35. Nice finish!

It's -35 (wind chill) here today. Such fun! We don't have a ton of snow though. All I can do is stay in and stitch :)
