Perfect Timing

I had a long day at work today. I was up at 4am so that I could be at a seminar in Milwaukee. My coworker and I got back around 3:30 and then I had to meet with my boss for the semi-annual performance review.

Much to my surprise, I received compliments and some constructive advice in regards to joining service organizations within the community. The goal for the year is to increase my billable hours -- something I've mentioned in my reviews for the past 10 years. It would be great if that happens.

After my review, I had to contact the hospital in regards to my surgery time. I was a bit concerned because I couldn't get hold of the scheduling agent and it was almost 5pm by the time I called.

I ended up staying late due to client work that came in while I was out of the office. As I sat there doing it, I started getting emotional thinking about the surgery tomorrow. And the fact that I have no one to take care of me. It's my first surgery and I am afraid. Anxiety was at an all time high. I think what set it all off was finding out that my sister is not going to be at the hospital with me. She's going to drop me off and then pick me up after she gets off work.

I didn't know my coworker was in the office. Before she left, she gave me a hug and told me she would be thinking about me. I was very, very touched and the timing couldn't have been more perfect.

I hope someone will go there with you, at least that S will show up !!! It seems more scary than it is. If you tell them you are very scare, they may give you a relaxing medication. I got 3 C-sections, a surgery when I was 11 yo. My daughter got one at 14 mo, my oldest son got one to get his catheter in for his chimio and my youngest son will hae to have a surgery in the futere. It sounds scary but you are going to make it ;-)

Sending you many hugs and positive thoughts.

Oh, Sweetie, I know how you feel. I'm so sorry you're alone right now. Of course you have anxiety abot the surgery...having your tonsils out at this time is serious. I just wish I lived closer. Thinking of you, and hoping you have a very smooth surgery and recovery, Meari.
Love and hugs,
Deb

By the time you read this you will be home and the surgery will be over. I do understand just how you feel.

I can still remember my terror the night before my gall bladder surgery. (The old fashioned way--with a six inch scar on my abdomen!) I have also had three out-patient procedures and they was just like yours. Drop me off and call when I'm done.

Now, it's over and it's time to pamper yourself. Treat yourself nicely and indulge in sleep, rest and, if allowed, a big bowl of your favorite ice cream. :)

Meari I had my first surgery at 19 and was like you all alone. My very new husband had to work so I drove myself there. But another girl's worried Mom ended up being there to help me recover while she waited for her daughter. I think it helped her to be busy. Then she found out my address (this was the old days no HIPA) and sent me flowers the next day. So you never know when God will send someone to give you a hug ((((((Meari))))))) Be Well.

Ohhh, {{{{Meari}}}}, sweetheart, just tell the hospital personnel attending you how very anxious you are. They're so well-trained in this, they'll know just what to do. I've had many surgeries, but I've always had the MOST wonderful people attend to my panic. You have nothing to get worked up about, which I know is easier said than done. You just think of me holding your hand and cracking jokes while they put a sedative in your IV; then you won't even care if they cut your head off.

Here's hoping you recover quickly! I am so sorry you had to face something like that alone!! Scary, but now it is all over and you are hopefully on the mend...be sure to stitch alot while you're recovering, I hear it is very therapeutic! LOL! The best kind of medicine!
