Beautiful Bloggers & a Giveaway

I received this award from Debra from "All About Me". I have met Debra and she's a very nice person, as well as a talented crafter. Thank you Debra for passing the award to me. :) It makes me feel good to know people enjoy my blog.

The rules are simple:
1) Accept the award.
2) Thank the person who gave you the award
3) Add a link to the person who gave you the award.
4) Put the award on your blog.
5) Write 10 things about yourself others might not know about you.
6) Pass the award on to 10 others.

Arte y Pico

I was really surprised to find a new reader gave me the Arte y Pico award! Thank you, Margie!

In Spanish it literally means ART and TIP but according to bloggers, it translates as "The Best Art."

The rules are as follows:

1) Choose 5 blogs deserving to receive the award (conception, creativity, interesting equipment and contributing to the community of bloggers whatever the language)

2) Every award must contain the link towards the blog of his author so that it can be visited.

3) Every winner must show the award-logo and put back the name and the link towards the blog that attributed it for her.

4) The winner must show the blog link the Arte y Pico.

*Whew!* I had to back-click through about 5 blogs before I found the link to Arte y Pico! (Obviously quite a few didn't follow *this* rule, LOL)

5) To Post the rules.

Now for blogs I find to have Arte y Pico :)

Chiloe - Chiloe's Corner
Heidi - Needle Necessities
Barbara - Mainely Stitching
Michelle - Ozark Sew & Sews
Sue - Stitching & Life

A Minute of Reflection

Jenn at Sweet Pea Stitches has written a post on her blog that has hit home with me, and I whole-heartedly agree with. I encourage the stitching community to take a few minutes and read what she has to say and consider the impact of what a few kind words can do.

Have you ever seen an award on a blog that says: “If I read your blog, consider yourself awarded” or “If you read this, consider yourself awarded.”? First, how would I know if you read my blog if you don’t leave comments? Secondly, how many people would actually “take” an award and post it to their blog. Could you see me making a post that says: “I visited so-and-so’s blog and she said since I visited, I could take the award for myself, so here goes!” I think not.

Kind words come in the form of a comment left, a link to someone’s blog, or passing on an award. It’s easy to just say “if you read my blog, consider yourself awarded.” or “I can’t just pick 5/7/9”. It takes less time to pick a few blogs or make a few comments, than it does to put together an exchange item. Yet, the impact is the same... You’ve made someone’s day. And it only takes a minute.

With the closing of LNS’s and large box stores reducing inventory of stash, our stitching community is becoming smaller. It’s up to us to encourage and keep it alive. You can do that by leaving comments, passing on awards according to the “rules”, or taking time to post to a group. RAK’s and PIF’s are nice, too, but let’s not forget the online interaction. It only takes a minute.

When I started my blog, it was for me to keep track of what was going on in my life and to show off my stitching. I never dreamed that I’d have a “following”. Nor did I write it for that purpose. Based on emails and comments I receive, it seems I do have a small fan club (For the life of me, I know not why!) Whenever I get an email or comment telling me how much they like my blog, it makes me feel good. It only took a minute.

I don’t have many “finishes” to show off and I don’t participate in a lot of exchanges due to time constraints, but I do take time to visit blogs and give encouragement if I can. Hopefully, I can make a positive impact on someone’s life, even for a minute. Everyone likes positive reinforcement and a little brightness to their day. Since we can’t see the other person, How do we know they’re not having a bad day and that ONE comment may turn it around? It only takes a minute.

Who knows? Maybe something I say will impact another in a positive way, and I love that thought! So go ahead... “enable”, uplift, and encourage another. It only takes a minute.

Bling Flinging, Recipe & Addiction

Marita and Kendra flung this bling my way...

The creator of the You Cheer Me Up award had three things in mind for the recipients:
* bloggers who make me laugh until my face hurts
* bloggers whose writing voice comforts me when I’m feeling lost
* bloggers who inspire me when I’m feeling blue.

The original award instructions are:

If you are a recipient of the You Cheer Me Up Award, please find the blogs that cheer you up, copy the code to post on your sidebar and pass Ethel and Lucy across the blogosphere. You can use what cheers you up in your post, or copy this one, but please send your award recipients back to the original post on A Nice Place In The Sun to get a copy of the award code, post the image and read the instructions. I want to try to maintain a page of original and ongoing award recipients, so feel free to let me know if you’ve received an award when you pick up the image code.

Since I gave out You Make Me Smile Awards, I'm just going to say... consider this bling yours if I read and comment on your blog. :) Leave me a comment, if you snag this bling!

Here's an interesting recipe:

The Recipe For Meari

3 parts Success
2 parts Flirtation
1 part Wisdom

Splash of Energy

Finish off with a little umbrella and straw

In case you didn't know... I have a blog addiction! LOL

77%How Addicted to Blogging Are You?

Lastly, my blog is Rated G...

Apparently, the only "bad" words on my blog were 'breast' and 'suck'... oh me, oh my!

Tuesday Tales 2/12/08

Weather
2:30am, I hear the first snowplow go by. Yikes… Already? 5:30am, I get up with the intention of either snow blowing or shoveling. After all, we were in a band of weather that was supposed to produce 6” of snow last night. Pleasantly surprised, I walk out to find less than an inch. I thought to myself: Self, that one inch is going to stay there.

Work
Let me ask this: Are staff meetings *really* necessary? In order to make the 8:30am staff meeting, I have to leave my house at 7:30. Today enroute, I witnessed three accidents: 2 cars in the ditch and one pick up truck rollover… all because of slick roadways. I arrive at the staff meeting a few minutes late to find that they started early (This is *after* I called ahead and said I might be late). I sat through 20 minutes of jibber-jabber, none of which applied to my office. Then I drove another 45 minutes to get back to my office. One of the staff commented about quick I was back, and after telling her the above, she asks: Were you pissed? LOL (Not a happy camper, that’s for sure)

Make My Day
I dare you, punk! Make my day!!! It’s always nice when someone compliments you, isn’t it? It must be my turn. Twice in the past week, people have told me they thought I didn’t look a day over 30. Imagine that! Today after the staff meeting, one of my colleagues commented that she thought I’d lost weight. Must be noticeable! Lastly, I received an award from Chiloe and Kathryn. Apparently, I make her day with my bloggy musings! I need to spread the wealth onto 10 others, so the following bloggers have made my day at one time or another: Julie R, Lisa S, Michelle, Mercy, Rene, Velda, Deirdre, Petra, Patty S, and Nancy M. Thanks for making my day! :)
