The bullion knot required me to use spacers in the frame. I found a frame shop that was willing to sell me spacers, and offered to "staple" the piece in the frame if I brought it in. Today, with Mime in hand, I trotted into the frame shop. :) It was supposed to be a quick 5 minute job, but turned out to be a 30+ minute escapade. The board I stitched Mime onto was *just* a little to short (OK, about 1/4") for the spacers and it kept sliding out of place. The guy at the frame shop with really nice about it and kept at it until "we" got it. I offered to pay him and he said no. He just wants me to come back again. I think I can do that!
Without further adieu... I present, "Mime" framed:
Had an interesting chat with the framer about how people bring in their needlework. He commented on my lacing and said it's rare that he sees that anymore, and how much work it takes to do it. He said they use the sticky boards. He also said that some people use pins and pin needlework to foam core.

Mimi looks great in his frame! Reminds me I still have a bunch to get framed:-(
It looks fabulous! My framer suggests spacers any time I don't use a matt so that the stitching/photograph doesn't touch the glass. It stops the artwork sticking to the glass.
It looks really nice all framed. Where are you going to hang it? Wow - you lace your work!!! I've never done that. Finishing & framing are not my talents. LOL

Meari - Mime looks great in that frame. When I used to work in a frame shop we used Acid Free Stitchery Tape to secure stitchery. You don't want to pay a framer what it would cost to lace up a piece of work. Super finish.

Absolutely beautiful!

Mime looks great in the frame. I use pins and special acid free foam board to stretch my work.
Congratulations on finishing Mime! It looks great and I love the frame.
Congratulations on some great finishes. Mime framed is beautiful. Pink Carnations is lovely too.
What is your next BAP project?
Looks beautiful.

The frame really suits the project - great choice!
I have to admit I no longer lace my work for framing but I think I ought to get back to it - I use standard mount board and acid free tape but I tape on the reverse so that if (my some odd chance) preserved for posterity, there will be enough fabric undamaged to re-frame...
It's beautiful!!! congratulations !!!
Looks absolutely fabulous!
The frame is perfect for Mime! It is a beautiful piece.
Mime looks really good in that Frame Meari...you did a beautiful fantastic job on her and I am so happy that you got her done too.
What are you going to stitch on next?
Take care & Happy Stitching
It looks beautiful--great framing!
Very beautiful Meari.
We are a rare breed indeed Meari! I either lace it myself or my LNS does it for me. It's usually around $12-16 per job, depends on the size. I don't think it's too much after the cost of framing! It looks great and it sounds like your framer has a repeat customer! My co-worker is heading to Rockford tonight. Too bad I had plans to go to Chicago!!!
Mime looks marvelous in that frame! You have great taste.
I would love to see your lace work!
The Mime turned out stunning!
Congrats on a finish well done.
Congrats on getting Mime framed so quickly and for finding a framer who sounds like a real keeper!
Meari - this is just gorgeous! This is truly a piece that is sure to become an heirloom...big hugs for sticking with this and your finish!!
Great job with the framing! It looks wonderful.
the color is perfect! Absolutely beautiful work!!
It is very beautifull. Congrats on the finish.
Mime looks wonderful, what a great finish all framed up. What an extra feeling of accomplishment to see it done when it was a long time WIP too. I know I get an extra thrill when I finish up a long term piece like that. How sweet of the framer to give you the extra help as well, that type of service does bring people back. So, with Mime done, what will your focus piece be now?
Sue
