Never A Dull Moment

I was wrong... it wasn't a 3 hour ordeal. It turns out that it's an overnight stay! That's right, they are keeping me for observation. EKG, chest xray, and cardiac enzymes all came back negative. I'm on my second heart monitor and wearing a nitro patch. I have the "green light" which means I can do anything I want except leave, LOL. They'll be doing two more enzyme tests and possible stress test in the morning. The doctor did say it looks like I have a little bit of arythmia.

My sister drove 75 minutes to visit me in the ER... while talking to me on the phone! The little liar told me the "air" I heard was the fan in her house, LOL. Then she proceeded to call my parents, who showed up. And my oldest brother came, too. My little ER room was quite full when the doctor came in to do his initial exam.

Doctor: (looking into my eyes with a shining light) "Do you have any eye problems?"

Me: (wearing glasses) "Not that I know of"

Bro: (busting a gut laughing and being a smart@ss) "She's wearing glasses, that's a eye problem!"

Well, that's all she wrote. After that, my sister started with her comments, and between the two of them cracking jokes... Everyone was busting up laughing except the doctor... who was trying to do the exam. I was doing my best trying to ignore them so that I could answer his questions without laughing! I finally told them if they couldn't "behave" they could leave. LOL

So what do they do? They go out in the hall and the entire time I could hear them cracking and laughing. LOL They both walk in toward the end of the exam and I could tell they were laughing so hard they had watery eyes.

Bro: "I couldn't help it!" (still laughing)

Since I have to stay overnight, I talked them into going to my house to get an overnight bag and my laptop. Ten minutes after they left, I called my sister: "We're trying to figure out how to get to your house" I live less than two blocks straight from the hospital! LOL

It was weird answering some of the questions about family health history with family who had the health problems there...

Doc: "Any family history of heart disease?"

My Dad is sitting 3 feet at the end of my bed not saying anything.

Me: "Uh yeah, sitting right there" (pointing to Dad)

Same thing for diabetes, high blood pressure.

Mostly they are keeping me for observation because of the family history factors. All my paternal relatives have some or all of the unhealthy factors.

I keep thinking... But I'm the healthy one!! *sigh*

Sounds like my only hospital adventure. In 2000 I lost the use of my right hand in the middle of the day. The emergency room thought a stroke; so EKG, echo cardiogram, heart catheter, and overnight stay. I drew the line at the MRI as I am highly claustrophobic. It was a pinched nerve in my neck. Silly doctors. I hope yours is as easily cleared up.

Now Meari...didn't you know that when you have the green light it means to Go....geez...you miss the perfect opportunity of leaving...you had the green light...LOL.....

I am glad that they are taking cautions and doing all of the tests to be on the safe side. My dad's side of the family has heart problems too and I do have Right Abundant Block so that is consider a heart problem I guess.

Take care & Get lots of Stitching done.

Hi Meari, I guess better safe than sorry. I hope everything continues to be negative. You are so in tune to your health-I can't believe you put off going to checked! Take care of yourself!

I'll be thinking about you today Meari. I'd rather they be over cautious, then not diligent enough with problems. Good luck!

My DH has been going through the chest pain thing as well, and has been to the ER a time or two. Still can't figure out what's wrong with him, but after quite a few tests on his heart, they're thinking it might be reflux, which also causes chest pain. Might be worth asking about.

I hope you're feeling better soon.

By now you should be in the process of getting released. I hope. If not--listen to the doctors, get all the test done while you are there and make sure someone brings you your stitching. LOL
I hope you are doing better today.

Oh, my gosh ... I don't read your blog for a bit (aaahhh ... vacation!) and now find you're having health issues! I hope you're home & resting now. If not, to repeat others: follow the doctor's orders!
Keeping you in my prayers.

Feel like I am very behind here.....hope all is well now, I can
't remember when we chatted....Heart problems are very under diagnosed as females, but I am certainly hoping yours is NOT heart related.
