Here I go again... another post about Freecycle! I can't say enough good things about it. Earlier this week, someone put out a post that they were offering up a box of fabric scraps, some with yardage. Good for a quilter, she said. She was also offering two 1/2 bags of fiberfill, and 12 fitness videos. I was the lucky recipient of all three. Here's a pic of the fabric:
The fabric covered a 5x5 foot section of my dining room floor! Lots of pieces where at least a yard to 3 yards. It was like Christmas taking each piece out to see what the next one was. :D Also in the box were these:
I don't know why the thread is on cardboard spools like that. Can someone shed some light on it for me?

Is there any company name on the cardboard spools? I have some "sample" threads of Sulky and Madeira machine embroidery threads that came in a plastic box on cardboard spools like that.
What a wonderful buy. As a quilter myself, I would kill for such a find (well not exactly but you know what I mean LOL). Wishing we had freecyle around here. I am looking forward to when Walmart puts all their fabrics on clearance. Hoping to make a killing then.
Gosh, I want your Freecycle program in our area!! LUCKY DUCK!
Enjoy your goodies!

Meari,
The threads look like they might be Gutermaan (my spelling is bad and I'm too lazy to go look). If they are, they are swiss made and I use them exclusively for my quilting. It's what Bernina recommended when my Mom bought her machine 25 years ago and I switched then, lol.
What a great box of stuff! Enjoy!
NOw your brother is going to tell you , you are going to sit on your couch playing with your fabric !!! lol Freecycle is really great ;-) I hope we had it here ...
I had some really old Gutterman thread http://www.guttermanthread.com/ that was on cardboard spools...perhaps that's it? Nice haul!
