Thursday Thoughts 10/10/13

Fall is in the air... temperatures are getting colder at night, and the leaves are turning.  Here are more photos taken while using walking path I use near my workplace:

STITCHY STUFF
I've been stitching.  Really, I have!  However, I can't show what I was stitching on until it makes it to its new home.

I did realize it's been a while since I showed a WIP photo of Balloon Glow.  It's the project I work on during my lunch hour when I don't go out for a walk.  Here's what it looked like back in July:

Here's what it looks like now:

Anne over at Doll's Musings and I decided to do a private Christmas mailart exchange.  I've decided on the fabric and have charted out the front of the envelope.  I know what I want to do for the back, I just need to chart it out.  I think it will turn out so cute.  I've never done a Christmas mailart so I'm really excited about it!

GIVEAWAYS
Speaking of Doll... She's celebrating her 3rd blogversary with a giveaway! Go on over and check out her latest finishes. They're absolutely adorable.

Savannah at Confessions of a Stitch Wraith is also celebrating a blogversary.  If you're interested, check her blog out, too.

Julie is hosting a pumpkin giveaway over I'll Cross My Leg.  It's adorable.

TREASURE HUNTING
While out gallivanting through the thrift stores, I came across a couple of good finds.  First up was a shopping bag full of DMC floss in envelopes... the entire bag for 67cents.  It looked like someone's stash.  There were almost 100 skeins.

Next up is some fabric and charts I picked up for 99cents.

PALS
Hard to believe that the PALS retreat is less than 10 days away!  I've never been to this retreat, so I'm really looking forward to it.  I know that Katie and Shelleen are going.  I met Katie at another retreat several years ago, so it will be great to see her again.  I hope to meet Shelleen.  I've "known" her for years through blogging.  She was the first person to comment on my blog when I started it.  I'm rooming with Sue and Laura.  Sue has adopted me as her surrogate daughter. :)  I've never been to Myrtle Beach or South Carolina for that matter.  I am so looking forward to it (Did I already say that? LOL)  I've got a few excursions lined up:  a jeep safari to see the area, and a visit to the Ripley's Imporium.  I've got my stitching projects packed (important stuff first!), just need to add my clothes and accessories.  With 200 stitchers descending upon the beach, I'm bound to meet other stitchers I've know through their blogs.  I'll be participating in three of the exchanges... fun, fun, fun!

Until next time,

Awesome find! That was beyond a steal all that floss for the price you got it! Beautiful photos! Autumn is my favorite season, so I am loving all the beautiful scenery outside! Have fun at the retreat!

Love the pics of the leaves and squirrels. It has not gotten that cold here yet, we are in the 50's at night. Gotta love a good find.

I must admit that, until your latest blog, Balloon Glow didn't do much for me. But with the addition of the green balloon, I'm beginning to visualize it. Wow! It really is great! Also, thanks for the pictures of the squirrel. We don't have them in our neighbor hood...I suspect a certain outdoor Bengal cat. The squirrels used entertain/exercise my Corgi for hours or at least until my ears had had enough. They would run along the fence, with him right behinfpd them on the ground.
The Thrift Shops here have slowed down a bit. I did pick up the Stargazer Lilies kit I moan about (Friendly Stitchers) for $2 in Anacortes, WA.
Have a fantastic time at the PAL meeting!

Awesome finds Meari!!! Myrtle Beach is pretty nice! There's a lot to do there. I think there might be an LNS there too, but I've not tried to find it. We were just there a couple of weeks ago, but just for 3 days, so I didn't try to find it then. Just not enough time and one of the grandsons was with us. Have fun at the retreat!!

Happy Trails,
Pam K. :o)

Lovely pictures, especially the little squirrel :) Great stash finds - I have that Backstitch Alphabets chart and use it all the time, it really comes in handy! I really like the old Charles Craft that came in the packages you bought too :) Have lots of fun at the Retreat!

The pictures of the area around your work are so pretty, Meari. What a great place to walk. And your file cabinets look wonderful - I'm not sure I've ever thought about painting metal cabinets like that. Much better than how they started.

Lovely progress on your stitching, Meari, and I look forward to seeing both yours and Anne's Christmas mail art--I'm always fascinated that they are able to travel through the postal system relatively intact!

Have fun at PALS!! Take lots of photos :)
