Midnight Watch

:: Happy Dance! ::

Midnight Watch is finished.  Woo Hoo!

Started:  October 12, 2014 ~ Finished March 1, 2015
Designer: Blackbird Designs
Fabric: 32ct Wichelt Linen, Twilight Blue
Fibers: DMC, GAST, WDW and Crescent Colors

I substituted several of the colors in order to use what I had in my stash.  I've gotten quite a few compliments on the color changes and inquiries as to what I did.

•  Crescent Colors Blackbird and DMC 3799 for the lettering
•  DMC 310 and 921 for the border
•  GAST Burnt Orange instead of WDW Sweet Potato
•  Six Strand Sweets, DMC 612 and 739 for the moon
•  WDW Bullfrog and GAST Apple Cider as called for in design
•  DMC 730 instead of CC Pea Pod
•  DMC 951 for GAST Apricot Blush
•  DMC 437 for GAST Brandy
•  DMC 781 for GAST Gold Leaf
•  DMC 918 for GAST Mulberry
•  DMC 642 for GAST Toasted Barley
•  DMC 935 for WDW Caper
•  DMC 402 for WDW Carrot

I had to reconfigure the last line of letters and numbers.  I created the numbers for 2015 since the design is charted for 2009 and doesn't include numbers.  I couldn't fit my middle initial at the end so I left it out.

I really, really love this one, Meari! You know... I think the hand-dyed cottons' prices have become ridiculous. I'm glad to see your piece turn out so nice without them!

It's looking fabulous! Halloween isn't really a big thing here so I never used to stitch these designs.....but last year I did a few and totally love the designs :) I have a few designs I'm planning to stitch this year! Will you have this framed?

Nice work, Meari! The colors are great. You have inspired me to dabble with my own thread choices, and fabrics too.

Midnight Watch looks lovely and congratulations on your finish. Your colour changes look great!

I too substitute colours and/or floss on my projects depending on what I have in my stash or if I want to add more dimension to the piece.

I'm facing the same problem with the date on this piece. I'm nearly finished stitching all of it and will have to invent my own 5 - if I finish this year. If I stitch any slower, I might have to chart a 6 for next year!
