Stitch From Stash - January

This year, I decided to particate in the Stitch From Stash challenge coordinated by Mel at Epic Stitching.  The idea is (obviously) to stitch from our stash to reduce spending.  I also look at it as a way to focus on reducing my accumulation of stash.

For the month of January, I have been stitching on Thinking Positive by Nathalie Cichon at Jardin Prive.  I hope to have it finished by the first week in February.

Other WIP photos can be seen HERE.

All of the materials came from my stash:
Fabric: 32ct Opalescent Luguna - Heritage by Enchanting Lair
Fibers: DMC, Weeks Dye Works

I also pulled out Japanese Garden.  With any luck, I hope to have it finished by the end of 2014.
::Quiet you in the peanut gallery, lol::

I did the purple specialty stitches on the right side and the water/bridge on the right.  I also did the blue sparklies in both crane medallions.  It's been quite a while since I've seen the bottom part of the pagoda!

Other WIP photos can be seen HERE.

Since I started this in December 2005, all items definitely have come from my stash.

Those sheep look a lot better with a bit of back stitching Meari, they don't blend in as much now.
How do you like your lap frame from K Creations? I have been thinking of ordering the same one for large designs such as Chatelaine's.

YOur Japanese Garden is just gorgeous. Your stitching is very neat too...my stitches look different, i.e. each one differs from the other. Anyway, just lovely!Christina

Japanese Garden is really a special piece. That is such detailed stitching!

I love the Thinking Positive SAL design. Much more relaxing stitching I think. Good to alternate the two pieces!

Meari,

SFS is coming along nicely, and the message is inspirational. I can hardly wait to see JG completed, but will be patient! It is an exquisite piece and will be a Masterpiece when it's done - so much detail, so much beauty!

I always love seeing your progress on Japanese Garden. I was going to join that group too but to much time spent online as it is.

I need to check out the Stitching from Stash Challenge. Is it too late to start if I've already purchased new STASH?

You are making great progress on Thinking Positive and I really like how you fixed the sheep.

JG is looking awesome too. I am anxious to see it finished.

Japanese Garden - hmmm. am I part of the peanut gallery?? :)Great job on stitching from your stash! I'm in the same challenge & so far everything I've done has been from my stash with the exception of buying 2 skeins of DMC that I was missing.

This person in the peanut gallery predicts you will have no problem finishing JG this year! Unlike some of us who procrastinate terribly when it comes to UFOs...LOL

I may just surprise you this year SD! LOL

Love you,

I have been trying to stitch form my stash as well, especially my floss stash. Although it is hard not to pick a skein or two when I am out shopping. I am sure you will complete Japanese Garden. It is always a pleasure to visit your blog.

Wasn't me jeering from up there honest! Love JP! I am with you in Stitch from Stash. Been relatively pain free so far, I don't do much internet shopping unlike some I could mention, lol, no problem with the button! and my LNS is half an hour away. We will have to meet up at Welcome Stitchery one of these days!

Positive Thinking and Japanese Garden are both beautiful designs! Good for you for using your stash! I'm in the Stitch from Stash group too, and it has already saved me money since I resisted buying something "just because" even though I didn't need it!

Meari,

I've heard a lot of descriptions of Illinois...but never tundra. That cold again?

I'm really glad to see the Japanese Garden is in your current rotation. I loved the close-up pics. It's beautiful.

Stay warm and safe.

Garden is such a lovely piece, enjoyed seeing your update. Love the sampler positive too, nice progress and I like the sheep better with the bit of outline, they don't get so lost on the fabric.
