First Needlebook Finish

Finally a finish that I can show off! (I've had two other finishes but can't show them yet) I did my first needlebook tonight. The french design came from Dominque who started Operation "I Embroider". My version of Je Brode was stitched on 14ct fiddler's cloth aida with DMC linen floss, which I really like btw! It took me 8 hours to do the stitching and another hour to put it all together. The cover of the needlebook was stitched with the french version, and the back was stitched in english.

I sort of used instructions from Quilters Cache to put the book together, but made my own adjustments based on ideas I'd seen from other people making needlebooks.

On the inside of each cover, I put two pockets for packages of needles or needle threaders. I attached felt pages for loose needles. Snaps hold the book closed. I thought it turned out really good for my first try. Happy Dancin'!

I received an email from Dominque telling me that she was putting my project on her blog. Look HERE. How cool is that?!!

Meari,
Excellent work! It's so pretty and finished like a pro! I'm really scared to do my first one...I'm just terrible at finishing. But, you encourage me to try. You did well.

It only took you an hour to put the book together?? Then there's hope for me! I have a Quaker needlebook I want to stitch but have let the assembling keep me from getting started. *lol*
Great finish, Meari!!

How fabulous! You did a great job. You have inspired me to give it a go. I love how you used the design. One in French, one in English. Wonderful! Think I'll even give the linen thread a try as well. Have some but haven't used it before. Yay you!
