Stash Galore

A few months ago, I met a lady through Freecycle who said she had a bunch of cross stitch stuff but it was packed in boxes and she didn't have time go through all the boxes at that time. She said she'd go through it and get back to me. In the meantime, every few weeks I received an email from her telling me that she hadn't forgotten and updated me on the latest happenings in her life... planning a wedding, buying a house, moving, etc. The day finally came that she found most of her stash and we arranged for her to drop it off at my house today! During my face-to-face conversation with her, she told me how glad she was to find someone to take it because she was just going to THROW IT AWAY. Can you believe that?!?

I haven't really had a chance to look at everything, but I did take pics of everything:

Before she left, she asked me "Would you want anything else if I find the rest?" I said: "Sure!" LOL

Gee, no I don't want any more stash I'm all full up! LOL You received a great stash haul. I can't imagine someone giving all that up. When I stopped stitching for a few years it never crossed my mind to get rid of it.

Well what cross stitcher would say no? Not me for sure!

My goodness. That is a LOT of stash! Even if you use only one or two pieces from it, it's still quite a find. It sort of reminds me of the early days of Ebay, when kids were cleaning out their parents house and offering flosses and fabrics at bargain prices because they had no idea how much it was actually worth.

Wow Meari - what a wonderful haul!! And to think she would have just binned it too! Freecycle's not big over here in the UK - wish it were!!

Lelia said...

Thank goodness the stash is with you!! And not in a litter bin : )

Man, you made out like a bandit! Whatever will you do with it all? It will take you a few days just to go through all those mags. Is the material she gave you mostly aida? Lucky you to end up with all her stash! I' sure there are a lot of things you won't want to stitch. You could probably sell a lot of it on Ebay
