Case of the Flying Shrapnel & Fallen Pulley

Turns out I don't have to borrow my Dad's car. I received a call from the shop owner around 4pm. In addition to replacing the pulley that melted and then fell off the car, he suggested replacing the tensioner pulley -and- the serpentine belt. Yup, the one I had replaced last year! Because the faulty pulley ate it's way into the belt, hence the rubber shrapnel all over the battery, and the belt getting very hot... shop owner is afraid the belt might break. If THAT happens, it's not pretty! I actually had it happen once.

With an hour's labor, towing, and parts... the total was *drum roll please* $220 AND it'll be done by 5pm today! Only $220!! I was thinking it'd be more like $800-1000 to fix.

Now I can make it to my hair appointment tomorrow morning! Gotta have priorities!

Glad it was a lot cheaper than you were expecting. Now you won't feel stuck at home this weekend even if you don't go anywhere (other than your hair appointment)

Yay...that isn't too bad for a "major" repair!

Whew! That sure turned out much better that it could have! What a relief to have your car back quickly, too. I hate being without a car!

Oh my gosh. I'm so happy for you. That's a real good price for a major repair indeed. And so great that it's fixed sooner then expected. Wishing you fun at the hairdresser :)

I'm so glad that they were able to fix your car so quickly, and at much less cost than you thought. Quite a promising way to start the new year. Hopefully everything will stay working well for it now.
