Let me give you the grand tour into the world of my overwhelming mess. Here's a peek into THAT room:
As we venture fully into the vast wilderness of
First, I'd like to direct your attention to the King of the Jungle, Simba, sitting high upon mountains of photo albums. Simba really does roar! In the valley to your right is a $15 wood desk I refinished, added a glass top, and found a chair to match (more on the chair later).
Off to our left is a dresser mirror that's extremely tall for MY bedroom. What better place than to assume residence in "that scary room"?? Standing guard in front, are two hefty tubs full of my parents' family photos (Yes, Mom *I* have them. Dad says I can
Gazing farther to the south, you can see boxes of more
Lastly, I'd like to turn your attention to your right. Sorry about the cockeyed photo.... results of trying to lean backwards while standing in the corner of that last pic. Anywho, back to the tour. My parents bought me that dresser when they moved into THEIR first home (I was 10!). It's nothing special, but it's been dragged from place-to-place since I moved away from home. On top of it is a small portion of my stash. Notice the mattress standing proud and tall? It does have a frame... somewhere... I *do* know where it's at (I think -just kidding-). It's in the basement. Powers to be figured there was no use and relocating MORE furniture into this room. Between the mattress and dresser is the door to the closet. Can you see it there?? It's packed full, too. No surprise there, eh?
After two months of dating, JT was finally allowed to see the "scary" room. Despite what he said: "Oh, it's not that bad, babe." (Uh huh.) Thanks for being such a sweetheart.
This concludes your tour of That Scary Room. Stay tuned for a future installment...

That JT is a keeper. Whew, you were right about that room. If I had one like that I would never open the door. Good luck finding a place for everything, rearranging is always fun--once your finished. (Ha Ha) Gotta run baby girl is washing dishes--could be a disaster in the kitchen.
CJ
LOL if that didn't chae JT away he'll probably stick around hehehe
Just think of all the fun you will have discovering treasures in that room that you forgot all about. Good Luck with it.
JT is definitely a keeper! I am sorry you are still suffering with the cough and stuff. Hope you feel better with the new round of meds. As for your spare/scary room...if it makes you feel better I have one that looks very similar. The difference is I have been waiting for 5 years to ummm toss or find a better place for the stuff/junk. My current plan is that if I haven't needed it in that long of time...I can toss it! Best of luck!
U only have one scary room??? Hmmm my hallway has a few packed boxes from when I thought about moving to San Antonio (staying put after all), my room is a disaster and well there's a huge grage downstairs and the indoor stairwell still has Christmas items needing to down downstairs. It is hot as hades here now..maybe I can leave them until Christmas! LOL I'll get to it soon.....I keep saying that!
Besides the photos and cross stitch....what hasn't been unpacked and used can be tossed! LOL I guess I was a lucky one who insisted on seeing the scary room. Now when it's clean, I'll have something to compare it to! Heck maybe I'll be able to sleep in there!!!
Well on your behalf it is semi-organized and not just thrown in there. You should feel a bit better about that at least. It's really not that scary. Go easy on yourself
That scary room looks quite different from the rest of your homestead. LOL Actually, I'm surprised that you don't already have it all organized since you are one of the most efficient people I know of. Enjoy the treasure hunt. ;D

Trust me, I've seen far worse!!
You have scary room...I have scary closet! I have the feeling JT is going to help you unveil a not so scary room soon!
Hey doesn't everyone have a room like that.... mine is my front porch right now soon to be much better now that the painting in my craft closet is finished.
HUGS

Hasn't everyone got a room like that, lol, in my case it's the cellarm especially since dd#2 came home from uni.
LOL Enjoyed the tour of 'the scary room' so much that I've named our 'guest room' the same today. Upon moving, two weeks ago, everything that we didn't yet have a place for went in that bedroom! It looks very much like your scary roomk, except we need to get a guest bed......down the road when I get to organizing the room. It WILL all work out for you Meari.....just hang in there and work, work, work!

I hate to admit this but I have a room that makes yours look pristine! In it's first incarnation it was my Barbie/craft room. Hubby took it over for his business and pretty much completely trashed it. Now we are in the process of emptying it out, ripping up and replacing the floor that he dribbled super glue and envirotex all over and turning it back into my craft room. I'd show you a picture but even my sister said I should be embarrassed! Does that make you feel any better?
You got your work cut out for you.
Meari, your spare bedroom might be full but it looks rather organized. I had this great idea when my brother got married that I would use his room as a nice crafts room but it turned into a dumping. I'm too embarrassed to even take a picture. I have some very unorganized piles in my own room that seems to be growing.
Your room, very organized. I hope it inspires me to do something with at least the other room.
I'm glad JT was fine with it. He's a really great guy.
Loved the way you wrote about 'The Scary Room'..great tour!
great tour and I can't wait to see it finished :-)
That room has great potential, that little desk and chair with the bed and a partially empty closet would make a perfect guest room. Get more pastic tubs for all the things in the boxes and store it all in the basement. To be organized another day. Hey we all have it whether we admit it or not. CJ ok;-)
That is not so bad: you can still see the floor!
At first I thought what a great stitching room it would make and then I visited *The Homestead* and saw your attic room - now I just think what a fantastic stitching studio you could have or is it already up there? You have a lovely house.
I waiting to see what you do with it. Yeah JT is right it's not that bad.
Now, the real challenge is to get him to help you organize it...bwahahahahahaha.
If you think that room is scary, you need to see my craft room! Sorry Meari but you got nothin' on me! I would never even take a picture. I am waiting for DH to put up some shelving in the closet and then I can try to start making some sense of the mess. First, just the scrapbooking table was a mess, then came the top of the sewing machine cabinet, now the room is a catch-all for everything we don't know what else to do with. Oh, and the litter box is in there. That stays clean though! The basement is another place that we don't talk about. :op
Hugs, Elaine
A couple months of vacation time is what it looks like it would take to clear this room out, lol!! Don't worry, everyone has one whether they will admit it or not.
I have a room that looks worse than that! LOL
You forgot to mention the spice rack perched proudly on said computer desk! lol
Don't worry...you're not the only one with "That Scary Room." Thanks for sharing!
Hugs,
Beth
heh, I have one of those rooms as well :-)
Your post of the "scary" room was really too funny. May be because I have a room just like yours here!! was supposed to be my craft/stash room ... now is "all that has not a place yet" room ... with my stash in a corner of it and tons of other things doing a siege of them. good thing: my ufos are nicely disguised so DH has no real idea of how many they are. bad thing: i have to dig out that piece i am in the mood to stitch just now ... and usually find out one of those instead and i feel bad to have so many ufos waiting for just a bit of work to be finished. another bad thing: i do not remember all the items i have. another good thing: each digging is like going shopping lol
