Marvelous Monday Update 9/28/09

Before I start this week's MM post, a couple of thank you's are in order. First, thanks for all the wonderful comments regarding my niece and the photos I've taken of her. She's got stunning beauty even though she doesn't think so. Secondly, thank you for all the awesome comments about the question I posed in the last post. I was overwhelmed at the number of comments!

And now... on with the show!

WEATHER
Boy, has the fall weather set in. A good part of last week was cold, dreary, and rainy. Sunday was one of the few nicer days left for this year. Mid 70 temps, sunny and nice breeze. My type of weather! This morning, I woke up to 30mph winds and blustery cold. Brr! Unfortunately, the winds toppled the trellis I made for my climbing beans in the garden. :( It also knocked over a couple of my potted plants.

GROUNDHOG DAY?
Remember in the movie where Bill Murray woke up at the same time every day and the day repeated itself? I'm starting to feel that way in that every morning I keep waking up between 3:30 and 3:45am... every day for the past week or so! Most of the time I go right back to sleep, but it's starting to get really annoying. Not to mention I'm not getting good rest!

OOPS!
There were yet more things in my grab bag that I forgot to show last week... Check this out:

28ct Cashel Linen • Antique Almond
Dinky Dyes Cotton Floss • Mint, Hawthorne, & Bush Baby
Pure Palette Floss • Sunflower Petals (great name!)
DMC #5 Pearle Cotton #211
GAST Floss • Cheesecake, Shell, & Sunburst

NOT SO NEW RESIDENT
For the past month or so, this BIG guy has taken up residence outside my bedroom window. He is H-U-G-E! I don't know what kind of spider it is, but I'm definitely not used to seeing anything larger than a Daddy Long Legs.

OTHER STITCHY NEWS
If you haven't taken a look at my stash-for-sale blog in a while, I've recently added a lot more charts, magazines, and kits. I'm slowly working my way through the big box of "stuff" I keep adding to that sits in my 4-season room.

I did some stitching this week! I'm *this* close to finishing another "quilt square" on TMQ. I'd say, I have about 10 more stitches. Since I am so close to finishing the current motif, I didn't take a photo. Stay tuned... coming soon!

Twice a year, the local domestic violence organization hosts a used book sale... the proceeds go toward helping battered/abused women. This year, they have opened an actual bookstore. I went and took a look around. Hundreds and hundreds of books -- even a craft/hobby section! There was a bin of cross stitch charts and magazines (mostly magazines). After I took a look at the other books and such, I sat on a stool and went through all the cross stitch stuff!

All for less than $1!

Oh nice stash Meari, I love the name 'Sunflower Petals' too. The weather here is turning also, time to dig out the warmer clothes. I hope nothing was damaged beyond repair in your garden, although knowing you and your power tool you can probably fix anything that was :-)
I don't mind spiders but I think I would move that guy along.
Hope you sleep better this week, and look forward to seeing your next square.

Except for the wind your weather sounds wonderful. We are supose to get Fall weather later this week, only in the 80's instead of 100

Your spider friend looks like a garden cross - our garden is full of them at the minute.

Our cooler weather is starting tomorrow, but not as cool as yours! Your stash find is awesome, but oh man, I can't believe you're leaving Ugly Spider there. You're a good person, because that rascal would be gone!!! (as soon as I found someone else to do it....yes, I'm a coward, I know!)

What a good surprise to even more in your grab bag! That is so much fun. Yes the weather is really showing the fall signs. Although Fall is my favorite time of year...I know what is right on it tail and I do not like that.

I cannot imagine waking up to that spider everyday and if it reproduces...YIKES!!!!

Have a great week!

Gotta love it when you can enlarge the stitch stash on the cheap! Hope that the weather didn't do too much damage to the garden.

Ew... spiders. (but good photos!)

Great looking threads and fabric.

It has also started to get cold here. The wind just goes right through you now and is cold, cold. Guess it will be winter soon.

Nice additions to your stash. As for the spider? As long as he is outside that's fine. :)

You might want to try something over the counter for the sleep problem. I get something similar every spring and fall. It has to do with the major season change. I hope it improves soon for you.

Send some of the nice cold weather my way please and thank you! My A/C on the van took a dump this week and it's still hot and humid. 90's yuck!

Nice cross stitch haul you found and at great prices. Also, LOVE the porcelain doll collection you have. Beautiful!

You always seem to find stash everywhere you go! Was a yucky day here today, cold, rainy and windy. Look forward to seeing your next completed project. Hope you get some uninterrupted sleep soon!

I gotta say that I have seen too many residents like your new resident and some even bigger in my yard. All I gotta say was if he or she were outside my bedroom window my husband would have been dispatched to kill him immediately upon my spying him I don't do spiders. And of course we have to be careful here because we have lots of black widows around.

He is definitely not the itsy bitsy spider that went up the water spout! Great stash!

Love all your pictures! Even the spider ones! We have some of those around here to and they can get HUGE! I couldn't kill it either, would rather let it eat bugs...

You always seem to be able to find stash bargains everywhere, maybe I need to come & go shopping with you?

Lovely stash! Not so keen on the spider though.

Those spiders are very common here. In Dutch they're called kruisspinnen (kruis = cross, and you'll notice the white marking on their back looks like a cross). They only show up in the autumn and are totally harmless. Just ugly. I actually caught one for my daughter's class, when they were studying the creatures of autumn.

Your weather sounds wonderful to me, could do without the wind though. We get plenty of that around here! Great new stash. Glad that spider has not made residence around here!

I love the crisp fall weather but the wind damage doesn't sound fun. Hope the bens survive and the pots didn't break. EEK! That spider looks awful.
I had to go hunt down this post as you had nothing recently, hope all is ok. I had been gone a while myself, CJ ok;-)
