Marvelous Monday Update 7/20/09

WEATHER
The weather was overcast most of the weekend, and temps were unusually cool for this time of year (more like Fall temps). Overall, it's been pretty nice. I'm thankful for the cooler temps since I'm still getting quotes for a new furnace and CA unit.

STITCHING SANCTUARIES
I borrowed the term from Deborah, who affectionately calls her room the "stitching sanctuary". Some of us are blessed to have entire room devoted to our craft(s), while others call a small corner their "sanctuary". I'm still working on mine. Right now, my "spot" is an end of the couch. If you want to see a beautiful stitching sanctuary, check out THIS (french) one. Isn't it awesome?! Do you have photos of your stitching sanctuary?

ARMOIRE CONTEST RESULTS
Out of 47 guesses (Wow!), there were FIVE people who guessed correctly! So how much was the armoire I found at the SA store? I paid $75 for that awesome piece of furniture! I found it "cute" a couple of people guessed that JT bought the armoire for me. I bought the armoire, and he delivered it to my house for me. Wasn't that nice?

So, who are the winners???

*drum roll, please*

Sue V of Sue's Small World of Stitching
CJ of Tea and Stitches
Debbie (craftygal)
Beth of Beth's Blog - Stitching & More
Joy of The Busy Stitcher's Babble

I would like each of you will email me with your preference of color: brown, tan, purple, mauve, or pink. I have a special surprise in mind for each of you! It will take a little time, but expect something in the coming weeks.

Meari...that is indeed the most beautiful stitching sanctuary one could ever dream of! I've bookmarked it for future inspiration.
My favorite part...the hugs apothecary jar of lavender! I have a spot on my small front porch where I like to catch some afternoon sun and read. When I sit down, I let my fingers brush through the plant and release those soothing scents. Unfortunately because this porch is elevated...I get a tad too much breeze for stitching.

Thanks for this most wonderful post!

I just love that little house on the santuary post. Thanks for the inspiration!

I would love to have a little craft sanctuary to call my own. Perhaps in my next life.

Thanks for sharing.

That sanctuary is just perfect, but I must admit that I don't know if I would want one. Maybe a simple room to keep everything in would be nice. I don't think I would use it much for stitching. I like being around my family when I stitch. It could be the reason for all the mistakes I make, lol.

Ok the french one is way over the top, but wow would I love that. I have a wee little corner with my chair and various gadgets scattered within arms reach. I would love to expand it to a half room with a window for some natural light. Your armoire idea is perfect too, and what a buy.

Mon Dieu! Quelle sanctuaire! (Sorry, I couldn't resist!) I've with 5-foot-runt--I like having my family around/listening to music/watching a movie/reading whilst I'm stitching. And I've gotten really good at stitching in the car... But that petit maison could inspire some serious breaking of the 10th Commandment! And SO tidy and a place for everything and everything in its place...(sigh)

WOW!! Talk about a sanctuary. My only problem would be I like being around my family while I stitch. That place is too isolated from the rest of the house. I will keep my corner of the couch, lol!! Wish summer would give up and fall would hit Cali!! Congrats to all the winners...

Holy cow - what a place - her own little building. So lovely!

Holy Cow is the appropriate term I would use also. Now where is that darn winning lottery ticket? LOL

Congratulations to winners, to bad it wasn't me... I over priced your "new" piece of furniture.
Thank you so much for posting link to "sanctuary". It gave me so many ideas! I like to stitch when nobody bothers me... I meditate and relax while I stitch. Sometimes I do knit while watching tv. And I do not believe in luck, I strongly believe that we create our own luck...

Now that is a bit over the top! She obviously has way too much time on her hands! LOL My room is hideous compared to that! How's the organizing going??? We are going up north this weekend for golf and then Lake Michigan....it better be warmer than last weekend!
