Marvelous Monday Update 4/16/12

WEATHER
How about those storms that just ripped across the country? Luckily, my area has only experienced rain and wind. Looks like I'll be picking up sticks off my backyard. Temps this week are supposed to be in the mid 50's. Spring weather... ya gotta love it.

COOKING
I just love trying new recipes! Over the weekend, I decided to make homemade bread bowls and cheesy broccoli-barley soup. It was yum-yum in the tum-tum! I was surprised that bread bowls really aren't that difficult to make. I combined two different broccoli soup recipes to come up with a scrumptious comfort-food meal.

HOMEMADE LAUNDRY SOAP UPDATE
September of last year, I tried my hand at making homemade laundry soap. I've washed my clothes with it all this time, and give it a thumbs up. My clothes look and smell clean. They actually smell CLEAN... no perfume-y smell.

STITCHY STUFF
I stitched on almost all of my WIPs last week. I think that's what has aggravated my neck problems! In any case, here's my progress:

Japanese Garden

Forgive Quickly

Fleurs et Papillons

Until next time,

Meari, first of all, that soup looks scrumptious! I bought a cookbook over the weekend in B&N of just simple soups; making broccoli soup today! LOL

All of your stitching looks lovely, as usual. You take care of that neck! Put some heat on it to soothe the aches and pains!!

Working on LK this afternoon!!!!

Hugs,
Sue

Yum--your bread bowl looks tasty, Meari (well, the bread part anyway--you know how I feel about green vegetables!!)...

Glad you didn't get any major damage from those storms. One is heading our way this afternoon with very high winds. We aren't in tornado country, though, so hopefully there won't be too much damage.

Sorry to hear your neck is acting up--sure hope it's not your beautiful stitching that is causing the problems!

Wonderful Stitches as always Meari. I do love that forgive quickly saying. I am a huge fan of bread bowls. The only bad thing about them is they are never there when I want them, I always have to plan for them.

I really enjoy your recipes. Did you buy the bread or make it yourself? Today is a perfect day for soup and I've got chicken tortilla soup in the crockpot.

Your WIPS are looking great!

I admire your stitching & especially how you work on a rotation. I've been thinking of doing the Forgive quickly one myself but need to finish quilting for now.

I'm finding I am trying more recipes just because of Pinterest and my Allrecipes app on my phone! Glad to see JG still seeing the light of day. I just bought some cleaner online to help get rid of my mold starting to grow on my rubber gasket of my front loader. It's all natural. I haven't tried it yet though.
