What Is This?

Since it was so much fun last time, I thought I'd do an installment of "What Is This?" from time to time.

Here are the "rules":

In addition to your guess, you have to make up a little background story to go with your answer.
The answer has to be specific. For instance, "clothing" is too generic. You have to say what *kind* of clothing. Saying "Clothing I that was found at Walmart" is too generic for the story. Think: Who, What, Where, When, Why, How. Of course, we all know this is not clothing!!

Use your imagination!

The winner will receive a little sumthin-sumthin from my stash, so be sure to leave your email address! If there's more than one with the correct answer, names will be put into a hat and one winner will be drawn.

To qualify, you have to leave your answer, and the story that goes along with it in a comment on this blog. If you don't have a blogger account, you can sign in under "Anonymous"... just remember to sign your name so I know who you are. :) Contest ends September 15th.

Good luck!

Duh, that's a door frame for in the garden. Looks like fine marble for that upscale garden, but it's really bent rebar and concrete that's sprayed with that "speckle" paint. You can't buy them anywhere. The freight alone would kill you. You must make it yourself and hire a crane to stand it up. Is that secific enough? Sue in Oregon

I think it is the edge of a beautiful framed mirror with scalloped detailing. Postioned by the door so that everyone can check how they look before heading out the door.

It's a marble frame for the mirror. Possibly imatation. You buy this at Walmart or Home Depot and although it's not real, it looks real close to the real thing! It matches my kitchen counter and looks great in the hallway! Of course you have to LOOK in the mirror unlike me who hates mirror reflections!

I'm a bit of solid-surface countertop just spit out by the big-mama- countertop-spitting machine. I'm special because I'm a fancy edge, not just a big slob, oops, slab. I just need to be installed and have my edges sanded off smooth. I'll make your kitchen island look classy and you don't have to feed me--take me home today? :-)

What a fun idea for a contest, Meari

I believe this is a mirror frame and was given to the princess on her 16th birthday so that she can check her tiara before being seen in public.

Howdy Meari!Here is my story:
A wonderful cross stitcher named Meari is moving out of her old apartment and into a new house. After Meari signs the papers and gets her loan approved to buy her dream home, she takes a photo of the bottom right corner of the decorated marble fireplace that is in her new home! She is so excited about her new wonderful home that she posts this "teaser photo" of that fireplace corner on her blog. Although Meari already posted a pic of how beautiful the outside of her new home looks, no more inside pics will be posted until she is all moved in. Right now she is too busy packing everything she owns and wishes to take with her. Anything else in her apartment that Meari no longer wishes to own is being freecycled to new owners.
The End

Sincerely, CarolynM in Texas

What is it?? I'll never tell but I have sent a copy of it to George Gray. He is the host of the HGTV show "What's with THAT House?"

Here is a blurb for an upcoming episode.

This is just a small portion of one of the window treatments. Instead of traditional moldings we have styrofoam painted to look like faux-granite. Tune in to George's show to get a closer look of the speckled styrofoam used to create this unique stucture.

This episode will appear on September 17th at 11:30 EST. You just HAVE to see how Miss Meari has decorated the interior. Did someone say walls decorated with orts?? And a glass roof to catch every last bit of light to stitch by? Don't miss it!
