First Major Snowfall

For days, forecasters have been warning us that it's suppose to be a doozy. At 6:30 this morning, here's what I saw outside my backdoor. There's *at least* 4" already and it's only just the beginning! Celeste of course, loved it. She thinks snow is great!

The snow stopped. Here's what it looked like at 2pm. Forecasters are calling for more snow later.

LOL, I got the best chuckle out of someone's post to the Freecycle group:

"hey guys and gals .......... I woke this morning to find that someone had dumped a considerable amount of snow on our driveway and around the house. The driveway alone has about 16 cubic yards of it. You could use it to make snowmen, make a fort, have snowball fights, or even melt it for irrigation. Pick-up today, but please haul yourself. Preference goes to the "fastest" pick-up."

I wonder if they had any takers.

Oh my gosh! I am not ready for snow at all - how are you faring??? I know it is only a matter of short time now before those of us on the East Coast see this too!

Where in IL are you? I'm in DuPage County near Downers Grove and work in the Loop. We've got 5 inches that I can get the ruler through plus who knows how much hardpack and ice... and it's only 9:30 and still falling. Kids are on snowday so I took a day off too.

You look like us! We woke up to that stuff too. They say 1-2 inches of snow is falling an hour and I believe it so far. But it's so pretty to look out at!

Pretty snow pictures!! I love snow, but maybe that's because we don't get a lot of it down here in the South. :-) When we do get snow, it's a SNOW DAY and everything pretty much shuts down.

Wow, Looked at all that snow and more to come? I didn't think winter was ever going to come. Enjoy!

OH WOW! I am always fascinated with snow as I don't see much of it (only twice in my life!). Thanks for sharing these great pictures, so I can imagine a white Christmas while it's stinkin' hot in Australia! LOL.

I wish we had snow days if only to be able to sit home with a hot drink, my stitching and my doggie. It's so pretty!

Pretty snow! We got the same stuff in OK. Started on Wednesday afternoon with rain turning to sleet and it started snowing Wed night and all day Thursday. We ended up with about 10.5 inches. I think we set 3 records on snowfall. I haven't left my house since Wed afternoon.
