Marvelous Monday Update 8/24/09

HEALTH
A few of you have inquired about my cough, so I thought I'd give an update. After four trips to the doctor, I got tired of going so I've been riding out the cough. I did do a 14-day self-treatment of Prilosec OTC because several of you indicated it could've been due to reflux with the symptoms I described. I don't know if it helped or not, since I still get a little cough (usually when the weather is hot and humid). Other than that, the cough is MUCH better and only rears its ugly little head occassionally. Thanks to everyone for their suggestions and concerns over this.

On Sunday, muscle pains and bruises showed up to keep the road rash on my face and knee company. As much as I don't want to, I'm going to have to go out in public so I can get my glasses fixed. Thank goodness I'm on vacation all this week -- I look like I had the crap beat out of me.

GARDENING
I harvested my very first tomato this year! It was a cherry tomato... and the piggy that I was... I ate it right away. It was SO good! Soon I will have a ripe regular size tomato. Can't wait!

COMPULSIVE MAIL CHECKER
How many can relate to the label "compulsive mail checker" when we know packages are on their way in the mail? I came across this cartoon and thought it was pretty funny. :)

The real reason for this "blurb" is to let several of my stitchy friends know that you have packages coming your way (or you've already received them by now). Recently, I sent out the prizes for the Amoire Contest (Sue V, Debbie M, CJ, and Joy) and the Mailart Contest (Shelley).

STITCHY STUFF
I decided to create more beaded scissor fobs last week. They look much prettier in person than my photo.

Other fobs I've made can be seen HERE.

GIVEAWAY
Mel from The Daily Mel is celebrating her 8-year/1000th post giveaway. Look at all the wonderful things!

MY STITCHY AREA
Due to a challenge, Sari showed what her stitchy table looked like. I thought it was a neat idea, so I thought I'd share what my current stitchy area looks like.

STITCHY PROJECTS
Trying to finish two UFO's before I start any new projects (except those for exchanges). Both were started over 3 years ago.

First up, Simply Elegant Scissor case:

When I took a photo of what was in my messenger bag above, I found the Comedy Tragedy Bookmark so I put a few stitches in it:

There are lots of confetti stitches in it. What a pain in the rear. So much fun!

Those cookies look so yummy as did your tomato. We tried tomatoes this year and the squirrels got them all.

I'm glad you're felling a bit better. Your stitching area looks really cozy. I have a very small space due to too many kids at home still.

Oh that tomato looks yummy. Can you send a few my way? :)

Love your little fobs. They really are pretty.

As for your stitching space. I am so jealous. It is so neat and organized. Mine is a little here, some there, more in that room, oh wait, more in the here............

I'm reading this just before dinner. Your pasta looks so much better than my anticipated hamburger. When are you going to make gingerbread? I love it and haven't yet found a fluffy recipe like they have at Soup R Salad. I'm counting on you, Meari, to find one!!
Love the bookmark! And your stitchy place is great!

Meari,
I'm just a bad penny, always turing up. Glad you haven't changed your address b/c I couldn't think of anyone else to contact who could answer my question. I'm looking for a good embroidery group online such as the 2muchxs where we became acquainted. Hope you remember me.
Sorry to read on your blog about your bike accident. I know you were in a lot of pain there for a while. Glad you're healing.
Please send an email to sdugat@gmail.com if you have any info for me. I need to do some research and I think that's a good place to start.

Meari,
OUCH!!!! I'm glad you are doing okay after such a crash on your bike. I am sorry about your bike. Were you wearing bike gloves when you fell? Were you wearing a helmet? I was just wondering. Don't stop riding.

Could your cough be due to your sinus's draining? Or allergies of some sort? Just some things I came up with.

The mail checker cartoon is too funny.

Cute scissor fobs. I love the sunflower one.

Your stitching place looks like a comfortable place to be. I love your job on the Scissor Case looks great. The bookmark is cute I like those colors.

Looks like you had a wonderful Dinner and Desert.

I'm reading the newest blog first, so have to go find out about the road rash....... Still waiting for photos of the new armoire with stash in it! Glad to see you are going to finish a couple old UFO's! Your fobs are nice, still don't know how to pick out beads for those. And I can't believe you are just getting your first tomato. Ours were late, but Carl's had BLT's for a month now and is in 7th heaven.

Nice tomato! Mine are still green... I think I'm giving up on gardening in the Yukon.

And I'm glad that you are feeling better and do some stitching... as always I'm very impressed with your work.

Thanks for the pic of your stitching area. It is always nice to see those!

Glad the cough is mostly better, Hope you don't stiffen up too much from your bike crash.

I love your WIPS.

Thanks for the heads up on the giveaway.

And, omg, that food looks delicious.

I have a stitching room...none of my stitching leaves the room unless I'm stitching on it. Precautions one takes with a 3 1/2 year old in the home. ;)
Great cookies!

the cookies look very yummy, as does the pasta. Nothing more delicious than your own vegatables.

Wonderful stitchy stuff!

OMG I LOVE molasses cookies with a passion. I'd give up chocolate for them.

Yummy food and beautiful stitching. I love all the colors on each piece.

I'm glad your cough is doing better. I hope it continues to lessen and eventually no more cough.

Good luck with your tomatoes. Alot of people around where I live have gotten hit with a blight. Our weather hasn't been great for tomatoes either. First, it was too cold and rainy, then way too hot. Normally my neighbors have some red tomatoes by now and I've one seen one even close to a regular size. No zuchini or egg plant this year either. But the tomatoes that have "made it" to the farmers markets are really tasty this year. :-)
