Japanese Garden: In Need of Desperate Help!!

Years ago when I kitted up the Chateline Japanese Garden, I decided to go with the Victoria Clayton Hand-Dyed Silks. Vikki suggested the conversions and I went with it. I recently visited her website to order the colors I was low on and didn't see them. So, I emailed Vikki and found out that the colors I need have been discontinued! Yikes...

I am enlisting the help of you, my devoted readers and vistors. Do any of you have some of her silks in your stash that you're not using and would be willing to trade or sell to me??

These are the colors I need:

Irish Moss Found!
Lichen Found!
Mint Found!
Pine Found!
Ocean Found!
Walnut

Vikki is trying to find substitutes that are a close match, but isn't sure she can since she doesn't dye greens or browns anymore.

If anyone can help me, it would be greatly appreciated!!

Yikes! I don't have anything that old. I found HDF more recent than those colors. You might try posting directly on the HDF forums. Someone there might be able to help.

Meari-
I have never used her silks. I hope someone out there is able to help you out. I would hate to see you have to stop JG and never be able to finish such a beautiful piece.
Good luck...

Can I just say how much that bites! I wish I could help you but I don't often stitch with her fibers. Please post your request on the HDF board like the ladies have suggested. I bet someone there can help you out.

Definitely go the category of Color Search in Vikki's forums. The variegated are going to be the toughest to get. OTOH, the two more solids are a possibility. Go through all her silk colors (I saw a couple that might qualify if not close together in the design). Otherwise, do as I did and take your wound cards and compare them to a DMC color chart and match is as closely as you can. Once stitched, you cannot tell the difference between the cotton and the silk. Living proof in my Tribute To Ackworth on Sticklounge. All is not lost. You may even be able to substitute DMC for the variegated colors. You just cut equal lengths of DMC as in the silks. Takes more time, but it works.

I'm so sorry Meari. I went through all my VC and don't have those colors. Have you tried the Yuku forums for Chatelaines? Maybe someone there can help.

I have a little stash of her silks at home. I'm working overnight tonight, but will check once I "recover" in the next day or two.

I wish I had them to send to you. Post on every forum you can think of and hopefully someone can help. If not, I like Nancy's suggestion of using cotton. I have lots of different brands of variegated cotton floss if you decide to go that route.

GAH! I am sorry you are running out of floss, JG is so beautiful, it must be finished! I hope someone out there has a stash capable of suiting your needs :(

I have several of these colors I know. Let me check my stash and I will let you know which ones. I know Pine and Ocean for sure. But I think I may have a couple more. Will be in touch.

Meari, I've emailed a friend who has a lot of Vikki's fibers and am hoping she'll get back to you. Perhaps she can work something out with you and you'll be able to finish the project. I sure hope so!! Good luck. Ellen

Meari, i probably have some too. I must have 400' skeins of HDF I from another stitcher. So if you are still short, let me know.

Meari, I never used her silks or I would definitely share with you. If all else fails, contact Carrie at Carrie's Creations and see if she could dye some to match up with these. She did that for me with a GAST Limited Edition a few years ago.

Ouch! I'm sorry to say that I have none. I hope that you find someone that has those six you need so you can finish. You've come too far to give up on that beautiful piece of work. Good luck in your search!!
