Courting
I can't remember if I mentioned the "new guy" told me he wants to court me, and is enjoying doing so. The cards, candy, doors, etc... all part of his courting ritual (plus I think he knows I like it!).
One time he said to me, "You know what happens at the end of courting, don't you?" Me, not really sure... I said no. He then told me he was giving me a little homework... to find out the answer to it.
Off and on, I've been researching the net and reading about courtship. Today I texted him: "Courtship... Process of building a relationship with a potential life partner... end usually resulting in marriage. How'd I do on my homework research?"
He immediately texted me back: "I'm impressed! U described just what I am attempting to do. :-)"
Holy cow... I don't know whether to be flattered or to freak out. LOL It's been at least 8 years since someone has *really* taken time to get to know me. Usually, they just want to get to know me to gauge whether or not they can get my clothes off by the 3rd date, LOL. But I digress. "New guy" asks a lot of insightful questions at which I'm always surprised! He has picked up on things that I'd not think a guy would.

You are both old enough to know what you want and what you DON'T want. Better to find out now. I bet some of your questions surprised him (or at least made him think), too. If you are not interested in a life partner, he'd rather know now since that is obviously what he is looking for. You are much more likely to break up over cleanliness or finances than sex, so enjoy the getting to know you phase and think about what you want.
That is what I am trying to instill in my children. So often these days people just don't take the time to know the person their with. You can't stand the test of trials if you don't know who your standing with. Happy for you !
sounds very promising Meari!!!! He sounds like a keeper!!!!!!!
Just over twelve years ago a gentleman announced his intention to court me. He's from Tennessee/Georgia and is what I would classify as a true Southern gentleman (as is his father).
We'll celebrate our 12th anniversary in November :)
Good luck!
My DH courted me and it was wonderful. In the end, I knew he was the one for me and I was for him. This way you will know one way or the other.
If at anytime it is too much, you can put the brakes on it.
Just enjoy for now.
This is sounding a little serious? Enjoy the courtship Meari!
I sometimes listen to Dr. Laura driving home from work.....good entertainment and sometimes good advice. She always says to put it out there the first date that you are dating to find a life partner and if the other isn't, don't waste any more time! So this sounds like the perfect match if you are both in it to find this. How strange that you really met awhile ago and nothing came of it. If just wasn't the right time back then.
There really are nice guys out there. (next month will be my
29th anniversary with my Mr.Nice Guy) It sounds like he's willing to take it slow so just enjoy it and see where it leads. Have fun!
Hugs, Elaine
This sounds like it could be a good thing (courtship). You are a very smart lady and a great catch, so I hope he don't screw it up! :) I look forward to your next update!
You are a lucky girl to even have him take you out. Do you know how many men I met and can not even take you to dinner or a movie...Think they have forgotten how to court a nice women.
Wish you luck ;does he have a brother?

this guy sounds really nice and he is wanting to get to know you. Don't freak out. My first date with DH was so much fun that when he took me home he said " you would be easy to fall in love with" and we have been married almost 21 years.
Oh my goodness! Sounds so romantic.

You mean you have actually met a normal human being? :-o Not a freak? Not a weirdo but someone who can actually behave like the man he is? Waow! I'm impressed and hope he is Mr right. You are a cutie and should have been with a ring on your finger for a long time ;-) I wish you the best !!!
Woohoo, I am really excited for you. He sounds like a real gentleman (wanting to put away the ladder etc ;) ).
All the best and have fun
I sure hope he turns out to be thing you want. I beleive there are still good ones out there. He sounds like a keeper.
Good Luck on whatever this may bring you. woohoo!! Enjoy it!!
Wow, Meari. Well, it is good you will be getting to know one another. That is necessary so you can find out if marriage is the next step you both want to take.
My DH has told me he knew when he met me, I was 'the one'. We both had waited quite awhile to find each other, so miracles do happen.
Enjoy. These are good times.
This sounds promising, indeed! Good luck!
I am with Carolyn, he does sound promising. I find it interesting that you and he connected a year ago and nothing happened. I'll cross everything I can-because you certainly deserve to have someone really special!
