Dressmaker Space Saver 100

As I leisurely wandered around another thrift store, I wasn't finding much. I spied a little box on a bottom shelf....

I opened the box to find a cute little sewing machine! I HAD to check out the specs: 17 stitches including 3 straight stitches and 3 zig-zag, button-holer, quilting guide, and a sewing light (my Happy Lite doesn't have one). It also has a zipper foot and a button foot. Free arm that stores the accessories. Even the manual and original warranty were in the box! The only thing missing was the darning plate.

I wheeled my cart with the sewing machine box over to the nearest outlet to see if it worked, and it did! So for $15, I took my new toy home.

Dressmaker Space Saver 100 Sewing Machine

I couldn't find much history about the machine other than it was manufactured by Nelco which was a Japanese company who made machines for Montgomery Wards, Sears, and other similar department stores.

For a basic machine, it's very solid and sews really well... and it's very portable compared to my full size Kenmore. :)

If anyone is in need of a copy of the out-of-print manuals, I have them for sale for $15 each.

Little did I know when I bought this machine, that I'd be buying a treadle machine a week later!

I'm starting to catch up with my blog reading and came to this blog. I think we have almost the same Kenmore sewing machine. I need to get it tuned up, although I keep saying it every summer. Maybe this year.

On internet now searching for more information on the Spacesaver 100 Dressmaker. Bought one without a manual at a thrift store and can usually find something on the internet. Mine however, has broken parts but sews well. Wonder if I can find another. I want a smaller machine to carry to our community compassionate service sewing group for many needy. Getting too old to carry my machine (I am 72) but still love to go and sew and visit with my friends. Not ready to spend $15 on the manuel yet since I am not sure I can get the repairs reasonably done. So happy to find you.

Hello! I'm new to this blog and I happen to have a Dressmaker Space Saver 100 myself! I found it at my local thrift store but I haven't been able to figure it out because it didn't come with a manual. How can I purchase the manual from you?

Got my Dressmaker 100 at a thrift store for $15. With everything I have read it is a
great machine. It works but need to replace the thread holder and the first thread
holder that you go through. Have been looking but if I can't find them then I am so
anxious to use it that I will come up with something that works. I also was looking for
a lightweight to carry to my sewing group. Being 73 I also am not able to tote heavier
machines. I sent off and just got an even smaller machine today from Target. Great price
but very small, sews ok but nothing as good as the Dressmaker. Local repair would not
even consider repairs so I am on my own. I think I can, I think I can, I know I can. :)
