Marvelous Monday Update 3/17/08

School
Grades are in! At least for my online Beginning Access class. I got an A. Woo Hoo! One class done, two to go. I started the Advanced Access class last week. It's a campus class and since I took the beginning class online, I am the new kid on the block. Everyone else knew everyone in the class, except for me. Our big project will be to create a database, reports, and forms, and the present it to the class. Doesn't that sound like fun?

Dad Update
My Dad says he's doing much better since his last round in the hospital, where they ended up adjusting his meds. Apparently the docs at the VA hospital had him over-medicated.

Friday was his 66th birthday... AND... his last day working. He is officially retired! I'm sure he and mom will drive each other crazy. LOL A few pics from his party:

Grandpa says "No Kissy-Face"

Quality Time
My 16yr old niece spent the weekend with me. Last fall, she moved an hour away so I don't get to see her that often anymore. Growing up, I was like her second Mom. Now she's all grown up and driving... and STILL wants to spend time with me. :) She even arranged to take the weekend off work to do so.

We spent Saturday, shopping. First, a bunch of home improvement stores for me. Then to the mall for her, so she could do her birthday shopping. She came away with 3 bags of goodies and was a happy camper. She was also allowed to drive us practically everywhere. There were only a few minor *incidents* that a small lecture was in order. LOL

She was nominated by her school as Student of the Quarter for the Rotary Club. Not bad for her first year at a new school. She even prepared a speech. I'm so proud of her!

Stitching
I managed to finish Spring Bluebird by Waxing Moon Designs for Rita's RR. I also stitched on Victorian Pansies Needlebook. I thought to myself: I've got the RR done, I've got my March ornie done. Now I can pick WHATEVER I want to stitch on for the rest of the month. I'm thinking it should be Mime!

Lastly... Anyone care for some... CHICKEN?

Baked Chicken Breast with Mushrooms, Sweet Potato Fries,
and Steamed Broccoli... made by yours truly.

Happy retirement to your Dad. Your Mom will probably find herself volunteering away from the house before too long. (wink wink) It's so nice that your niece still wants to spend time with you. At that age they want to hang with friends more than with family so you obviously made quite an impression on her. She's a good kid. The baked chicken meal looks sooooo good.

Happy Birthday to your Dad. Now that his meds are adjusted I hope he continues to improve.
Your neice sounds like she's alot like her Aunt...a go getter.
Dinner looks great, you can come cook for us anytime you feel the need to get out of the cold and want to see the sun.

Happy birthday to your dad, as well as a happy retirement! I bet he'll have a tough time relaxing into it. I'm glad that they were able to regulate his medications the last time he was in the hospital and he feels much better. Great photo of you and him. I'm glad that your niece still wants to visit with you; how flattering! Sounds like you had a nice time together.

Glad your dad is doing well, and hopefully being retired will agree with him. Congratualtions on your getting the A in your class as well.

I love pansies, so your victorian pansy project sounds beautiful, can't wait to see a progress picture.
