We just had a second set of severe thunderstorms and HEAVY winds go through here today. I was in my 4-season room looking out the window and I saw the wind change directions and I could feel the windows vibrating. By the time I got the livingroom (about 3 feet away), the windows there were whistling. I grabbed Celeste and moved to the center of the house where there were no windows and waited, just in case I had to head for the basement. I was really scared! I've had the news on all night and they're telling people south of me to head for basements... Winds in excess of 70mph... straight-line tornadic winds... no one on 1st and 2nd floors! The weather has calmed down here and the skies are lightening up, winds died down, but it's still raining and thundering. My heart is *still* beating fast! Poor Celeste is pacing the floor and panting.
These were taken just before the skies darkened and heaviest winds hit:
REVISED: 10,000 people in my county and a county south are without power. 200,000+ in the northwest Illinois region are without power. ComEd says it may be a few days before it's restored for everyone.

Glad you are safe Meari, can't imagine what you went through.
Stay safe!!!!!!
Glad to hear your are safe! We had a horrible storm roll through a few weeks ago on a Sunday afternoon. DH had gone into work for a bit, so I was home alone. Normally a storm doesn't bother me in the least, but this one scared me a little with the awful winds. I found out later that they were in excess of 60 mph. Believe me, I was thinking tornado too!
Sounds like the hurricanes that we get here. I'm glad you okay and still have power. I hope poor Celeste calms down. And that the storms have passed and are over for now.
Glad to hear everything is ok and everyone is safe.
Then you sent it here to Indiana. Boy we got some bad weather last night too. Heard some reports of hurricane force 100mph winds. Just scary that's for sure. They are saying today could be interesting too. Glad you are okay. Be Safe!
Glad to hear you're safe...that sounded scary!
Happy you are safe. My DD called me from NW IN last night to let me know the tornado that went through her area bypassed her and they were all safe, although without power. Today, it was Texas' turn, but I'm far enough inland that we didn't even get a drop of rain. I'm not complaining. LOL

I'm glad you were safe.
Eeeek! That does sound scary. I'm glad that you made it through unscathed, even if Celeste might say otherwise. ;)
