Kitchen Update 8/1708

Ack! Where does all that primer go to? Bare wood sucks up a lot of primer! I used a quart of it painting just the inside 3 drawers and part of the cupboard doors. It took at least 3 coats to even out. I spent 5 hours on Saturday wood filling, sanding, primering, and painting. I was in so much pain after that, I was useless for the rest of the day. This is all farther I got:

The thing I really like about these cabinets (albeit plain) is that they're solid wood -- the boxes, the shelves, the drawers, the doors... all of it is wood.

Here's a mock up of some colors I'm thinking about doing for the soffet and opposite wall, as well as the ceiling (last one).

Slow but sure - it'll be worth it all when you're done - keep telling yourself that!

Ooooh! I love the freshness of that colour! It is a lot work but think of the pay off...a kitchen you can truly make your own! I love how you were able to add colour to your actual photo ...what was the trick?

Hope the painting goes smoothly.

I really admire the amount of work you are putting into your house in order to make it yours. However, as much as I like Periwinkle Blue, you are sort of stuck with the gold/brown/tan tile and I'm not sure that these colors work together. Have you considered a floss toss? I think you might consider a green (certainly not avocado!), but maybe a blue/green? I'd probably be conservative and go with a tan/gold, but a contrasting color could work.

Wow you were quite ambitious, it is looking great. Sorry all that resulted in pain though. Hopefully the rest goes a bit quicker for you. I really like the accent color you've picked. You're going to have a lovely kitchen.

It's getting there ...slowly but sure. It's fun to see it growing. I'm getting really curious how the end result will turn out.

I too have the same question, is the yellow wall wallpaper or tile? I reallyyyy like the color you chose for the soffet areas. A ceiling fan in the kitchen, yes!

Love the color you're planning to use. Very upscale looking, but hope you'll be able to replace the tile/wallpaper to match. I'm sure it will all be quite lovely when you're finished.

I have a slightly darker purple soffet in my kitchen, this is getting scary, we are quite alike......
