Why Do I....

...hear water running???

Saturday afternoon.

I'm in my dining room packing my stuff, getting ready for the move. Yes, I know it's still a month and a half away! I'm eager, what can I say?

The washer and dryer are running in the basement. All is well, until...

I hear water running. And it's running like it's in the next room! I run down to the basement to find that the tub the washer drains into is overflowing all over the floor!!! WTH! I quickly shut off the washer, as water is running everywhere. I found the plunger and start plunging away inside the tub. Next thing I know, it starts draining AND the drain in the floor of the basement starts bubbling! I'm thinkin' they're somehow connected... Now that's a scary thought.

What could happen next?

When you get to the new house, these stories will be funny. Until then, good luck!

I wouldn't be surprised at all to find out that the sink and the floor drain both release into the same pipes. And I bet something got caught in the pipes when the basement flooded out.

Not fun, no matter what the cause.

Oh my gosh, what more can happen to you. I would tend to agree with the previous comment. I would bet that something is clogged up down there from the flood yu had a couple of weeks ago. Good luck.

You will be glad when you are in your new house.

Oh no, and after all that water you had to deal with from before. I'm beginning to think the whole house is jinxed and the sooner you're moved the better. I hope the rest of your time there is a little less "exciting".

Yikes! Exactly what you didn't need. Crossing fingers the clean up isn't too difficult.

You've sure had enough water in your basement to last a lifetime! I hope it's a quick fix, and that nothing else decides to act up before you move!

Yep, those drains ARE connected. Ask me how I know.....last year I went in the basement to put a load from the washer into the dryer. Imagine my surprise when I got halfway down the stairs and saw about 8 inches of water in a pond about 10 feet across! I called for DH and he came down and waded through to the floor drain. It was in the middle of the puddle. Some of the water was soapy so we knew it came from the water but some was pretty nasty too. Ugh! It was a Sunday night and we had to call Roto Rooter! DH had tried a snake thingy he rented from Ace Hardware but that didn't work. The RR guy got it cleared up pretty quick but said he had to go all the way to the road through the pipe. He met resistance at the road end and said he hopes that doesn't mean our pipe dropped down from the road pipe. Ugh Ugh! That would mean tearing up part of the road at our cost. Bet you can't wait to become a homeowner, huh?
Hugs, Elaine
