First Ice, Now Snow

Woo Hoo! (NOT) Winter is here... and decided to come with a vengeance. Last weekend, we got snow followed by rain, which then turned to ice. I spent 3 days scraping, chipping, and carrying ice by the shovelfull to the front and backyards because there's no other place to put it. Have I mentioned the ice was an inch thick? Talk about fun stuff! Yesterday on my lunch hour, I finally finished the last of the ice. And what happens?

Last night, Old Man Winter (or Mother Nature... Haven't figured out who, yet) decided that we needed a little more of the white stuff. I woke up this morning to 6" inches of snow covering everything. My neighbor was up with his snowblower at 5am so I felt obligated to crawl out of my warm bed and go out to shovel. I cleared the steps and after 2 shovelfulls of the driveway, I decided to call someone to plow it. Before he got there, the neighbor did the incline part of my drive with his snowblower (bless his heart!). After the driveway was plowed, I went out and "cleaned up" the parts he couldn't get with a plow. I figure at this rate, with all the shoveling I'm doing, I should look pretty buff by spring. LOL

Wow! Everyone seems to be getting snow, ice, and rain and plenty of it.

You take it easy and try to get as much stitching in as you can...:)

Hope you don't get too much more snow and ice. Not fun!

Thanks for the B-day wishes!

I think Old Man Winter and Mother Nature are co-conspirators!

Dontcha just love winter in Chicago? LOL

I was really hoping for the kids' schools to call snow day today... especially with the nearly-an-hour train delay I faced. ah well, at least I didn't have to DRIVE in.

You will have some impressive muscles by the end of winter!

we got the same here Meari....ice on Sat & then snow today. I was very thankful my husband had taken today off to go to an appt. with me. He did the bulk of our shoveling!

Ok, I normally miss the snow at the holidays but after reading your post I think I can say I'm glad I'm not up north!! I will try to send you all some sunshine and warm weather to help with clearing the driveways. It's in the high 70's today and tomorrow they call for 80's and lots of sun. ;)

Yuck, sounds like winter really has hit your area. We've had a little bit here but so far not bad. Hopefully you won't have any more ice to deal with for a while.

Glad you had a good time on your date, he sounds like a nice guy. Love the part about holding the parking space for you, how thoughtful. Also, your bathroom vanity cabinet looks lovely after you stained it and changed the hardware, nice job.
