Monday Update 2/25/08

Dad
As you know, my Dad has been in and out of the hospital and ER for quite a while. Apparently, he's been diagnosed with Congestive Heart Failure. The doctors are still waiting for the blood clot to dissolve so he can have a procedure done to "clean out" the arteries of his heart. Until then, he struggles with breathing problems and water retention, which are common symptons of CHF. It's difficult to see your Dad, who's been a tough, strong guy all his life struggle with health problems that pretty much reduce him to an old man sitting in a chair. :(

School
I had my first test in B Law II last week. I find out tomorrow night how well (or how bad) I did. Surprisingly, I stayed calm throughout the test and think I did OK. I was a bit worried, as I had 11 pages of typed notes (which started out as at least twice as many handwritten pages) to study from. I *almost* finished my online Access class, however when I got to the last task on the final quiz it seemed too easy so I sent an email to the instructor asking for clarification before I upload it for grading.

Get Fit Challenge
I stepped on the scale on Sat and saw that I lost 2-3 lbs. I'm not so concerned about weight loss as I am about eating healthy and working out more. I didn't do so well on working out this past week, but made up for it this weekend. On Saturday, I did two cardio workouts (Pilates Fat Burning DVD & Walk Away The Pounds 3-mile Super Fat Burning VHS). Sunday, I did the WATP video.

I've been doing the PFB DVD for a while now and I think it is a fun workout. It's challenged my coordination, and I can finally do all the moves correctly. LOL

The WATP is a simple routine that does cardio and strength training (weights). I really like it. I'm hoping it will help to tone up my thighs!

After the weekend workouts, my calf muscles are SO sore that I can hardly walk. Switching routines must've did it's job and challenged other muscles. Ouchie.

Weather

Forecasters are telling us another 3-6" of snow is coming later today. First rain, then sleet, then snow. Heck, the ice from the last bout hasn't even melted yet!! My area is right on the border of the 3-6" and 6-8". How fun! Shove and Blower have thought they were on vacation. Silly birds!!

Waow! ANother work out is coming your way : pushing the snow blower (but would you be able to walk? good question !!! lol)

Any news from Mr invisible?

Shove and Blower might leave you and move to Florida if this keeps up!!!!

If you can, take ibuprofen before you work out and it might help your muscles from getting sore. The soreness is caused when the muscle tissue swells, and ibuprofen prevents or lessens the swelling.

Hi meari,
I'll say a prayer for your dad, it is hard to see a strong man looking week. I hope it gets better soon.
I'm sure you'll do well on your test. And congrats on the workouts. They are hard to force yourself to get into. Good work!

Nice headway on your snowman RR on your earlier post. I like the fabric he's on, nice contrast. Sorry to hear that your dad is struggling so. Hopefully the clot dissolves soon so that they can help him. It is so hard to see our parents that have been so strong in the past having problems.

You're doing great on your healthy lifestyle changes, sounds like the exercise and such is really paying off. Hope your legs stop being so sore quickly. Good luck with the snow too. We've had the freezing drizzle for the last couple hours and are scheduled for up to 6 in. of snow, yuck. The commute tomorrow is going to stink.

Hi Meari, Sorry to hear about your Dad. It is hard watching your parents grow old and having problems with their health.

I love how your snowman is turning out.

It is summer down under and I am envying your snow. We never get snow where I am. Still I guess you are envying us our summer weather.

Well done on your exercising and weight loss.

Hiya, Meari...I'm sorry to hear that your Dad is struggling with CHF. It *is* hard to see our parents go through this stuff. Hope his health evens out soon.

Let us know what your B II grade is, wish you the best!

Good for you re: your 'Get Fit Challenge'- is WATP Leslie Sansone? I have her tapes and I love them! I'm really glad to hear that your not so much weight/lb/scale conscious as you are HEALTH conscious. Thats a big hurdle to overcome. LOL@ sore calf muscles...Lisa :-)
